Topic: LLL - who goes? Posted: 23 May 2010 at 6:22pm |
Is anyone a member? What are the meetings like? I'm thinking of going to Palmy's one tomorrow. Will anyone else be there?

I was going to sign up, but it's too far to travel for me without a car. So I'd like to go but can't!

La Leche League Chickielou. I am going to start going more regularly I think. They are fantastic at helping with questions problems. And its lovely to BF in a room where everyones doing the same and no one is judging.
They also have books you cna borrow if you are a member.
I learnt loads from the last meeting i went to.

I have been to a few meetings. You pretty much learn avlot of info about breast feeding, and a lot of people go to get advice on certain problems they are having. They do also have a huge range of books from which you can borrow.

I'm not a member, but have been going for the last seven months or so. The people are lovely, the topics are interesting (we talk about so much more than breastfeeding) and I'm making good use of the books available to borrow.

Oh i had a feeling but I got la leche and thought nah cant be cos thats only got two L's.
I tried to get in contact with them when i first started BF cos my midwife wasnt very helpful but i kept getting stuck back with my MW cos the maternity rooms i would get someone on the phone and somehow end up back to my MW.......arrgghhhh
I could still do with them cos even at 5mnths my lil guy hurts me. the same thing hes always done but my nipples are obviously harder so handles it a bit bitter than earlier. but i plan on BF for a decent length (past 1yr) so really would like to get past this.

I'm not a financial member but go to the meetings when I can, they run a series of 4 meetings so that they are going over the same info regularly but it is always slightly different depending on who is there. Our group is quite small with only 3 or 4 people at each meeting.
I have found them helpful and it is always nice to meet new people.

Well I went. There were about 7 ladies there, and DD was the youngest baby. They were all really lovely, and they even had dairy-free cake! And one of the ladies was from the next road over from me, way out here in the wops, so that was nice too. They seemed like really sensible, intelligent women and they were really welcoming to me, even though they obviously all knew each other already.
MamaT, next meeting is June 21. I'll be going to that too.
