Like Issac's Mum we have been managing early wake ups for our 9/12 month old. I like a good routine as it helps me cope with my day and DD likes a bit of structure too.

Adding a warmer sleeping bag has helped, with the early wake up, but this morning we woke up early . We tried giving her a check in and reassurance, but by 6am after being awake for an hour it was clear she wasn't going back to sleep.

Normally she wakes at 6.15 and goes back to sleep between 9-9.15 am. Has a pretty good routine. But she was tired this am 9yawning and rubbing eyes) so I put her to bed an hour earlier as sometimes she will sleep longer and catch up. But today she woke up at 9am. Now the whole routine is a bit out.

If this happens again should we stick to our routine feed and sleep times? I feel nervous that she'll get overtired and won't settle for her nap, which why I out her to bed early than I usually do.

we go out quite a lot and DS has been in creche different hours a week cos of my uni schedule since he was really young so his sleeps were all over the place. the one thing we did is made sure he ate at the same time every day, that way when his sleeps were a bit wobbly he still had some kind of reference point. Good luck and hope you get it figured out soon

I'm similar to monikah, plus DD was a terrible catnapper up until about 5.5 months. We follow a meal routine and fit the sleeps in around them. I try not to let her go too long between meals so will wake her when one is due. She normally wakes up for them so that doesn't often happen.

I'll often pop her down for an extra short nap in the afternoon (about 1 hour) if she needs it, also if she's looking like she is ready for bed and lunch etc is due within the hour I'll feed her a bit early and pop her down.

DS is in daycare 3 or 4 days a week. It's more exciting there so he's up longer before his naps.

He gets put down for naps on tired signs, but I try to keep the meal times the same no matter what.

On days naps have been early he's a bit of a mess by 5pm, but by that time there's no option of another nap and I wouldn't want to send him to bed with no dinner, so we just carry on (but keep dinner/bed routine short).

However, as my boy's now waking us at all hours of the night (again) I need advice rather than have any

With Morgan (she is an early riser at times too) I tend to hold her out as close to nap time as I can, then do an early small morning tea then put her down. If she has a small nap I just hold her out til as close to her afternoon nap time as possible then she will usually have a long arvo one to make up for it. shes pretty flexible with sleep times though - on playcentre day she usually only has an afternoon one as she won't sleep there, and is not at all bothered by it.
