Aidens right eye waters a lot, looks like hes crying as it runs down his face but hes not. It is also sometimes puffy under his eye. When it first started he had a bit of a cold so I thought it was just that, but it has carried on for few weeks now. Could this be a blocked duct? Im gonna take him to Dr today, but dont wanna go if its nothing.
Sounds like a blocked tear duct to me. Might be infected after the cold.
DS had a sticky eye - not puffy though - for ages. Kept wiping it with either BM or cooled boiled water.
Yeah its not sticky or red at all, just watery. Last night he sneezed and tears shot stright out at me from his eye- this is not normal, so thats what made me think there might be something wrong. Going to Dr at 12.40.
my DS had this from birth till about 4 weeks. I use to squirt breast milk onto the eye. Also I use to massage the area between the top of the nose and the eye. It took a while to go, but did go. Another friend told me a cold tea bag - but this may be an old wives tale?? Its good to take baby to the Dr just to check antibiotics etc not needed. Good luck
The Dr said its only partially blocked cos if it was fully blocked the tears would not have been able to build up in the duct and shoot out under pressure when he sneezed! He showed me how to massage it 4 times a day. They usually resolve by the time a child is a yr old, but if not they would operate then.
Cooper had a blocked duct since birth, he had two at birth but one cleared up at about 4 weeks. The other naturally cleared at around 11 month strangely the same day a tooth popped through.
Hopefully it's just left overs from his cold & won't take long to clear.
