My baby brother is a builder. He's fantastic, works very hard, is extremely funny, and very, very 'bloke on a building site'. His g/f somehow (I have no idea how!) manages to put up with him ...bless her!

Anyway, just to give you an idea of what he's like, about a year ago, his g/f complained that they never spend much time together because he's always working, and she wanted some time just the two of them. His response?

"OK. I have to build a fence on Saturday, you can come with me and dig the post holes." !! Which she did! The have a hilarious relationship. And he couldn't see the slightest thing wrong with this - it helped him get the job done AND she got her time with him. Ahhh ...bless!

Anyway. He decided he was going to propose, which I knew, and last night he phoned me at about 10pm to tell me that the deed was done, and she'd said yes.

How did it go down....? Well, he phoned her and said ...

Him "I'm going to ask you to marry me. Do I have to have a shower and a shave first?"

Her "Yes" (As in, yes, have a shower and a shave)

Later, in the car ...

Her "You said you were going to ask me"

Him "Yep"

He puts his hand on her knee and says ...

Him "Will you marry me?"

Her "Seriously?"

Him "Na. I was joking. Did you think I was serious?"

Her "You're a dick!" And thumped him.

Him "Ok. Ok! Full serious!"

Ahhh ...and people say that romance is dead!!

I think that is so cute!! How neat that they are so well matched!

I have heard some good proposal stories... a friend was propsed to by her partner while in bed eating a pie (never did get round to asking who was eating the pie? for some reason that bothers me everytime i think of it!) and another friends proposal was "so do you wanna get married or what?"

Mine was even better ...

We'd been to see someone that my MIL knew who designed and made rings, designed the ring, picked the diamond etc etc, and then on the way home, with MIL in the front seat and me in the back seat, DH suddenly said ... "Oh" and looks at me in the ear view mirror and continued "*Do* you want to marry me??"

Oh! The surprise ...the romance ...the mother in law in the front seat ...

Hehe

Oh man sooo glad I popped in here to have a look....thats is funny!

Mine was sooo funny to...NOT

He took me to pascoes and asked to have a look at some rings.
I asked- for what?
He says - just choose!
So I go looking at simple rings
He says- NO look at these ones (pointing at Diamond ones)
I say- those are engagement rings
He says- I know
I bite my lip and choose the ring I like (He fights with me and wants me to buy a bigger diamond...which I refuse)
Any ways he puts it on lay buy...OK I think

Months later he picks me up from my house and he gives me the box...with a "here you go"

I say- whats that?
He says - the ring
I say- oh when did you get it?
He says- few months ago
I say- so whats this for?
He says- you know!
I say- NO I dony
He says- yes you do!
I say- FGS are you proposing to me
He says- something like that!
I say- Hmm am I suppose to put it on?
He says - Yap
I say - are you going to put it on me?
He says- ok

And did I tell you guys that at our wedding when we were exchanging vows the celebrant (sp??) says do you take Roksana...blah blah...his answer was "YAP"

That is my husband for you!! Arrrgggg

I got collared on my way out the door going to work on my birthday. I was running late, and he was doing the "pretending i've forgotten your birthday" thing, and I was doing the "I'm not even going to mention it cos I know you haven't forgotten".
I had grabbed jacob, and his bag and was sliding my shoes on to leave when he does the oh I got you this thing, and gave me a card..... Then he tells me to sit down, and I am going FFS, I am running late!!!!!!, I sit down, then he gets on one knee, blah blah. Turned out, he was going to propose at a work do for my birthday we were going to that night, the whole team were in onthe engagement thing, but he was worried someone would let it slip, so decided to "get in first"... aaahhhhh

I think the most romantic proposal Ive heard for a while was my friend, her now husband booked a flash restaurant for her birthday and and made a fake copy of the menu which the waiter gave to her then when they were deciding what to order he said oh i like the sound of the bottom meal which of course actually read * * will you marry me. The restaurant were all in on it, she said it was awesome.
Oh and my sister got proposed to in a hot air balloon ride so that was romantic apart from the fact there were about 10 strangers in the basket with them!

A friends of had a fight on his hands trying to propose to his g/f ...

He took her on a romantic mid-winter weekend away, and while they were out in the now, he quickly whipped a bit further up the mountain and put the ring in it's box on a rock, and then did the whole "Hey! COme and have a look at this!!" and she point blank refused to spend any longer in the snow becuase she was frozen and wanted a drink and started heading back to the lodge!!

Hehehehehe!!! He ended up having to pick her up bodily and plonk her in front of the rock with the ring on it. Apparently he sustained a few bruises until she spotted the sparkler ...

I have a similar story to that Ginger. They were driving to a batch out of Auckland and near the destination is a beautiful beach which he suggested they stop at, she got in a grump as she wanted to get there, grumpier when her soon to be df was mucking around in the boot, packing his jacket into a bag (among other things!) even more grumpy when she had to walk 20 minutes to get there. She got to the sand and refused to move, while he wanted to go down to the waters edge. He gave up and proposed there and needless to say the grumpiness faded. In the back pack he had champagne, strawberries, cheese and crackers and an assortment of other things.

Mine on the other hand, we decided to get married but it was never asked officially. One night in bed (post...) I asked him and we went to get the ring the next day. He didn't even get to put it on my finger, the lady gave it to me and I put it on.
