Ok, now I need some advice. We have decided to start trying for another baby The problem is that my periods at the moment are 9 weeks apart. I have always had irregular periods, which in the past I have controlled by being on the pill. I stopped taking the pill 5 months ago when we decided it was time for no. 2!! Since then there has been 9 weeks between my period. So my question is does anyone have any idea how I can figure out which time in that 9 weeks I may be able to concieve? All the ovulation calculators I have found only go up to about 7 weeks. Maybe I need to invest in ovulation tests? HELP!!

This was the same as me a few months ago. My periods were never much good anyway, but after coming off the pill they were 9 weeks apart.

We just did a lot of BDing! It worked!

So although I have no real advice, I do know how frustrated you must feel!

Thanks sparkle!!

I guess I am feeling a bit lost in what to do next. We were really lucky with Alex, and got pregnant straight away. We don't want to have a big age gap between our kids if we can help it, so I would love to be able to atleast know when to try. I don't really know much about taking temps etc so I will have to get educated!!

fertilityfriend.com has loads of info on it about temping.

My cycle was irregular and long, I ov'd at day 22, and we caught the egg becasue we were temping.

Loads of advice on here too - sorry to be so fast, but DH says dinner is ready!

I would suggest checking for fertile mucus, otherwise ovulation kits (but that could get a bit expensive!! Good luck!

Hi Nicola That must be incredibly frustrating! When I first came off the pill, my first cycle was about 8 weeks, but that was the only one. You must be tearing your hair out after 5 months.

The very, very best thing you can do is chart (I'm surprised that Jess' 'chart radar' hasn't gone up ...she must be too busy lecturing her eggs about ovulation! ). That will tell you when you ovulate. Unfortunately, you may just have really long cycles But, definitely chart - you haven't got much hope of working it out otherwise.

The other thing you could do is go to your doctor for prenatal blood tests ...though they usually do those on CD 22/23 - I don't know if they'd know what to do with your cycle being so long, so the charts would help.

Haha sorry been out all day but yes in order to know what is happening you need to chart, check fertile fluid and if u get frustrated like me get some OPKs (i know i good place to get some in NZ pm me if ur interested) I would prepare yourself for about 3 months of just getting to know your body and your cycles. If you need any help ill do my best so ask away

While you get to know your cycle via charting, mucus etc it might pay to just BD every other day. That way you might catch the egg at some point anyway!
