Hi all, I would love some advice/thoughts on the following:

I came off the pill in June. Since then I've had 2 periods. 1st one 11 weeks after coming off the pill, then the 2nd was 9 weeks after that. It's been 6 weeks now since having my last one!

I'm finding it frustrating!!!!

I never had a "strong" AF anyway, normally lasting 3 days.

We are TTC and don't know if or when I should test? As I don't know if or when I'm late!

I don't have any real symptoms (before i had my MC I had the sorest boobs and MS, so know what to look out for) and any that I have had I think are in my head!

Oh what to do!!!
Thanks :)

Chart!

Your ovulation is out of wack hence your irregular periods. The only way to know when and if ur ovulating and when to test is through charting

I'm with Jess ...charting makes things so much clearer for you, AND it makes you feel like you're actively doing something in TTC (other than BDing of course!). I charted this month myself to make sure that I was ovulating again normally after my surgery (since they mucked about with my ovaried, and flushed my tubes etc as well), and I feel much more at ease knowing for sure (it's all perfectly laid out on a chart) that everything is as it should be

Kazzle - hate to say it but i was the same and i wasnt ovulating. Do you know if u are? I was getting mine on the 12th of each month and it turned out i hadnt ovulated for over a year it was just my body having a period so to speak.

Travelgirl - you can draw up a chart? and do it that way It would be just as effective Temps up the side and cycle days down the bottom and just plot ur temps each day and see how that goes

Im just wondering did u get a blood test for the m/c im not criticising its just if your having ovulation problems you *may* have been getting false positives on your tests or u could have had a dud batch and may have not m/c. Im sorry i didnt follow it to closely so if i missed something let me know

Im gonna sound like such a repetative person but charting is the only way you alone can find out if ur ovulating. I would also recommend ovulation predictor kits. PM for the website. Note they are american so u will need a credit card.

Kazzle I was always on the same day of every month. I called it a 30-day cycle. Not exactly, but pretty close. And I always thought I missed my period every March lol.... But I was ovulating too, conceived first Hannah then Briona on a cycle like that. After Briona it changed to 28 day (4 week) cycles.

Sparkle, sounds like you do need to chart and I knew Jess would be on here saying that already I'm a bit confused when you had m/c, I presume that was sometime before June this year.

The other thing you could do is contact the Doc who prescribed the pill for you, check if he thinks your "cycles" are okay or if he has any concerns. It doesn't sound worrying to me though, just frustrating.

my cycles were all over the place, but according to chart and OPK's I was ovulating so an irregular cycle does NOT mean you aren't ovulating, just your body is out of whack for what ever reason.

I would chart and use OPK's if you can, and all the while have fun trying

Heya Travelgirl ...usually when you buy a BBT thermometer they have a chart form in there that you can photocopy off

its okay Jess you hvnt missed anything...and no i didnt get any bloods done....but i have started bleeding to the day of my m/c so im just going to relax, and not worry about it for a while.

was just curious as to how to work out whether i was a 28 or 30 day cycle and i think i am between a 28-30 day so im happy with that.

thanks for all your advice though its been a great help

Typically according to medical terms you are supposed to take when you get your period and subtract 14 days off it to find out when you ovulated but thats on an average, i know that since having Ella my leutal phase is far from being 14days now it varies upto 16days.

The reason i say that im suspecting that your not ovulating is coz it is rare to have such a varying leutal phase and be ovulating. If u are and are still having those problems it could be low progesterone esp if your ovulating late.

I would start charting and just go from there remember when in doubt see your GP.

Sarah Beth - My cycles are all over the place to but i was still having the proper leutal phases (once i was ovulating) all i am saying is that her situation sounds very similar to mine and she may want to research it further esp since she TTC. The main thing people fail to realise is that you CAN get your period and NOT be ovulating.

Travelgirl - It really depends on how low your temps go and how high they go my charts temps on the side are from about 36 degrees to 37.5 degrees.

I've been a bit fascinated by my chart this month - it's the only one I've done post-surgery, and my temps have been quite different to what they were before I had my op. They used to sit around the 36.6 mark, and go up to about 36.9 pre-period - this time around they've gone a lot lower - right down to 36.3 - and they really zoomed up after ovulation - 36.4 on the day of ovulation, and 36.8 the day after.

There are also a couple of people on TM who are able to sell OPK's and they are at a very good price...that's where I got mine from. I found them much easier that charting...but then charting I got nowhere with and my doctor didn't really recommend it. That's just how it went for me though. I hear lots of people do have success with it.

Good luck!
