QuoteReplyTopic: If IVF worked once, will it work again? Posted: 02 January 2016 at 7:07pm
Hi all, In Feb last year I did ivf icsi and was lucky to conceive on our first attempt. The ivf process was fine for me and everything went well. Unfortunately half way through our pregnancy a scan revealed problems and our wee girl was born in October but passed away a few weeks after birth. We are so heartbroken and miss her everyday but we are determined to not give up on a family. We have been fortunate enough to be granted another funded cycle which starts in March. Part of me is excited, then another part is petrified that it wont work. I know should feel positive as the first go worked and I carried our baby till term. Has anyone got any success stories of conceiving twice, three times etc via ivf icsi, or is it really just a gamble? Thanks in advance.
Firstly, sorry for your loss. It is heart-breaking to have a loss on top of all the IVF stress. You should feel very positive that it will work again. Your body can get pregnant, this is a very good indication. IVF is always a gamble. I have had 2 babies now with IVF. My 1st was a fresh cycle and my 2nd was from a Frozen embryo. So absolutely yes, IVF does work more than once.
Hi farfella, tha k u so much for your message. That gives me so much hope just reading that! I have days when im really positive then days when im not. I think the closer it's getting the more nervous I am. But I am hopeful too, and yeah my body had no problems with ivf or carrying a baby to term so I guess that's in my favor. Thank u so much
