Whether it is claritin or claritin-d is it really safe in pregnancy? I took my dad's medication without exactly knowing what I was taken. I have severe hives on my face and I didn't know I was pregnant. I am 18 weeks pregnant and so far my pregnancy is still going okay. I can't get the thought of my mind that my baby is not okay, I lost my previous baby to trisonomy 13. So if anyone could please give me advice that would be helpful.
It's in the "not recommended but no known side effects" category. I'm sure your baby is fine. I know how much more paranoid you can be after losing a baby, but try not to worry yourself sick!
It has more to do with the fact that any (it there are any) side effects are unknown, and it unethical to test on pregnant women to work it out. I have known pregnant women to take antihistamines, because there is a point where your ability to function must be taken into consideration, and their children have been fine.
It's one of those things that you can't change now, so it's best to focus on the things that you can control now (easier said than done, I know).
