Topic: A question Posted: 02 November 2006 at 9:10am |
After a mc how soon can you get your period?
If i hadnt been pregnant my period would have been due on saturday...and i thought after having the mc last week that it would be next month until i got it.
but i have stomach cramps and moodiness...all the signs of getting AF so just wondering if this is normal

When I had mine Kazz, the next period just fell into my normal cycle. Though, having said that, mine were very early m/c and happened around the time my period was due.
Sorry I couldn't be more help.
I remember Emma fell pg with the twins quite soon after her m/c. I imagine she wouldn't mind if you asked her about how her cycle fell afterwards.

I had 2 mc's in the year before I had baby #1 and both times my next period arrived within a month. I conceived Marlow in the 2nd cycle after mc #2.

Hi I was asking this question at the beginning of this year too. I had an early m/c (as in, came the day after my AF was due). I bled for 2 weeks and it was another 3 weeks after that to get my next AF - so like a 5 week cycle. That period was horrible, cramps and horrible pains, smelly, etc and I went off to the Doc to check what was going on. He said I was "cleaning out" naturally (yay, I guess ) and it seemed to settle after a day or two of panadol.
Anyways I bled 2 weeks with that one as well and in the following month got pregnant - although the cycle was out yet again and I ovulated on the weekend that my next AF was due. (Crampy feeling etc for implantation, I was sure I was getting my AF. Had to get scan to confirm dates later).
It's all a bit hard to explain but hopefully that helps. Most women seem to get their next AF just 4 weeks later but certainly wasn't for me.

well we are just going to see what happens...although the doctor did say wait one AF cycle before trying again...it actually means no sex till then as i can use any contracption (sp?) just developed an allergy to the condoms we were using...so that leaves us nothing at this stage.

I had the d and c on the 2 Jan and got my first AF on 31 Jan. I have always had shortish cycles, so this was basically a normal cycle for me. Then I fell pregnant the following cycle.

Oh and the OB that did my d and c said we could TTC again after my first AF, but when I did get preg and went to see the m/w she said it was better to wait three months as there is a higher risk of another m/c before that. Not sure who is more accurate, but we didn't have any problems.

I think it might depend on whether you have d&c or not. My doc didn't think it would be a problem to TTC straight away.

This prob has nothing to do woth anything but you have a higher risk of mc if you get preg before your bub is 6 months.

D&C stands for Dilation & Curettage - I'll leave it at that but here is a link that explains it: Clicky

I was completely knocked out too. I've heard of people having them under sedation but I don't think I;d cope with that at all.
