Hi there
Im currently 18 weeks pregnant and I also have a cough & Cold. I went to the health shop to ask what I could take while pregnant and they said that I could take some vitamin C tablets. the ones to take with water rather than te chewable time.
Im taking the Ester-C 1000mg bioflavonoids. They said I could take 3 of these a day.
yet I read on the Baby center website and they said that pregnant women should only have 60mg.
so now I am really confused and worried about my baby.
Please help me as to what is right
Elevit has 100mg in it, so I think that 60mg is wrong, especially since its so important in pregnancy. I'd give your midwife a text or call, or maybe talk to a pharmacist.
Vit C helps prevent miscarriage and is great for iron absorption so I don't think you'd be harming bubs, but it's always good to check.
I have a cold too and taking 1000mg of Vit C a day plus drinking orange juice and eating mandarins. Vitamin C is good for you, my mw couldn't recommend it enough.
During pregnancy your immune system get changes so that its main purpose is to protect your developing baby. You cannot protect yourself from cold. I had the same issue during just i had consult with my doctor.
