Topic: TTC directly after MC Posted: 07 July 2012 at 5:17pm |
Has any one conceived or ttc straight after a miscarraige and how has it affected your body/health. Did you feel your body had made a full recovery? Just wondering what others experienced as I had a mc and want to ttc again, I feel Ive recovered but still slightly run down ( not much energy) but am taking supplements to help. Thanks

We were told one cycle too, I had a d and c Jan 2, got AF 31 Jan and got a BFP 28 Feb, so first proper post m/c cycle.
Physically the pregnancy wasn't any more difficult than my others have been, but emotionally it was an incredible challenge. In hind sight, while I was absolutely desperate to have another baby, I hadn't grieved and I wasn't emotionally ready. We ended up having twins so it was a very stressful pregnancy, I had antenatal anxiety and I developed bad PND after they were born. I don't regret it for a minute, but I do wish I'd gotten some help with processing my thoughts and feelings while I was pregnant.

Thanks so much for that, thats what I was really wondering that if I went into a pregnancy already a bit run down physically and emotionally then it could possibly put even more strain on me. I just keep thinking that if I get pregnant and it sticks then it would help heal. I guess I need to process things a little more , I have a bit of time to decide before next cycle.

I just found out my hcg levels are still not back to normal, is it ok to get pregnant while levels still up?

I was recommended to wait one cycle til TTC after my MC. If I were you, I would definitely make sure my HCG levels were back to normal too.

I've just had AF and actually thought that it wouldn't come till the hcg was back to normal, but I guess I was wrong. Anyway we are at day 8 of the cycle after the mc and we were all ready to start ttc but now that the nurse has told me my levels are still up I'm not sure what to do. Anyone else with experience of this?

I guess you could try - as I don't think you will OV if your levels aren't back to normal. our bodies are pretty good at determining when we are ready for things, so maybe just see what happens? I think often they say to leave it a month more for the mental side of things which can hit at any time
Good luck xx

Sorry to hear about your mc. Any hcg in your blood will generally stop you from ovulating so you may need to wait till it's gets down to zero again. Mine took a while from memory and my cycle was all over the place.

I had a MC at 8/9 weeks in 2010, I was overseas at the time and was so gutted. I was a little run down and extremely jet lagged when it happened (it happened on day 2 of our holiday) After 2 weeks we decided to start trying again and I got UTD without a cycle in between. I didn't find out until we got back to NZ 5 weeks after I had MC'd and went on to have a very happy, very healthy pregnancy.
I did POAS before we started trying and it was a BFN which gave me piece of mind to start trying again. Because I was overseas I didn't go to a doctor or have any tests done - we just decided to see what happened.
All the very best!

Thanks so much for sharing your experience. I just got the results that my hcg levels were at 15 a week and a half ago.so should be back to normal this week hopefully! Im at day cd15 and don't think I've ovulated yet so maybe my hcg levels are not quite back to normal. It's such a hard waiting game!

I had a natural miscarriage and was pregnant the next cycle. The way I found out about the successful pregnancy was that I was in massive amounts of pain, feverish, sweating... Thought I had appendicitis. I'm sure being UTD twice in quick succession did something funky to me.

I've heard that your body takes the time it needs - I've gotten pregnant off the back of the previous miscarriage a few times, but had a loss each time - it is definitely possible, but not fun if you lose it again.

Your hcg levels must have dropped super fast cos here I am over 6 weeks after mc and pretty sure I didn't ovulate... Either that or im already pregnant... Wishful thinking! But I know it's possible so I guess I'll find out in a few weeks.

I am almost 4 weeks post D&C and may sound abit crazy but have already started to TTC...my gynaecologist told me I could try as soon as I was ready which included straight after the D&C!! I am not too sure about my HCG levels though as my GP told there was no point retaking the levels as they wouldn't really tell me anything just get me stressed! I am not too sure if I have ovulated in this time as twice it has felt like it! Anyway can only hope...Candycane canoot believe we are both on this journey again and have all FX for us both xxx

My HCG have never been over 200, so yes they do drop to 0 quickly

Ive also had two mc in a row. The first thing I looked at was my progesterone levels as both mc were at 5-6 weeks so felt as though I couldn't sustain the pregnancy. It's worth asking your go to test for this.
