hi was just wondering if anyone has had light bleeding spotting in there third trimester and if that resulted in having there baby early. i saw a specialist yesterday who told me after flicking thru my notes that i will be having baby in 3 to 4 weeks which is fine as im 34 weeks today but she kind of upset me as she told me there is a higher risk of still birth even tho the spotting i had came from me not the baby or placenta. anyone had the same or something similar

I didn't have any spotting but just wanted to send you a hug. Take care, if there is a higher risk of a still birth would they consider inducing you earlier or is that a higher risk?? I can't say try not to worry cause I know I would but maybe put your feet up if you can and have a nice warm drink and watch some 'good crap' on tv/dvd to take your mind off it for a while. Take care

That sounds a bit harsh! I hope the specialist had a lot more to say/explain than how you put it there! I'd expect them to be explaining what the risk is and what they are going to do to monitor the situation.

I didn't have those issues, but I did have some minor hiccups in the 3rd trimester, the OBs and midwife were really nice about what was going to happen next, extra scans and what my options were.

If you don't feel you're getting enough extra care, put your foot down and demand to speak to the next Dr up the chain.

it gets confusing as everytime ive been up there i have seen a different dr which says something else, so its kind of hard to know whats going to happen next my midwife has been excellent but hasnt been pleased with the lack of comunnication between the services. i just hope everything goes well and my baby girl will be born without trouble

Does your MW go with you? My came to all my specialist appointments & was my spokes person, so much easier for me.

no she doesnt as we have to travel up to waikato and she has other appointments during the day. it really sux how unequiped smaller hospitals are these days, it certainly makes things more difficult for people in my situation.

I had similar trouble and struggled with Waikato and the different doctor and theory each time.
Follow your instincts and if something seems a little weird follow it up. I ended up being induced at 38 weeks due to lack of fetal movements but it took me 3 doctors to finally get one to take me seriously!

thats all i want i think they just look at my file and see that ive lost 2 babies that they now think im just paranoid and on some level i probably am but i still feel that they run me around a bit and i would think after 2 traumatic losses they might be a bit more understanding. i have had the steroids and every scan ive had(which has been fortnightly) have shown that she is absolutely fine so im just waiting on them 2 decide whats happening next.

just make sure you are happy with the plan and that the take the appropriate time to decide what to do. if you aren't happy, ask for a 2nd opinion even if it hurts their feelings.
also make sure you know what level of Dr you're talking to. i had a friend who had "issues" in her 3rd trimester, at the hospital the Dr was getting her really worried and upset, then it turned out it was the registra and when she force the issue she got to talk to the consulting Dr and got a completely different story and a lot more respect.
