Home renovations

I'm looking at doing some serious home renovations but its the first time I'm doing it.

I'd love some advice from people who've done reno's recently or if you know of any helpful websites.

We have a room that we want converted into a main bedroom + bathroom so I expect we'll need to get plans drawn up and submitted for approval? Where would I go to find architects/draughtsman to start this off?
