Topic: What do i do now?? Posted: 24 January 2012 at 4:44pm |
Hi
It has been nearly two years sense we have started trying and still no hope we have been pregnant many times but none that what to stay in there.
Im wanting to know what do i do now, do we just keep trying and "hope for the best" or do we start looking into other alternatives like IVF. i haven't been to the doctor in a while and the last time i went she said just keep trying it will happen, you are young you have a lot of time. but still no luck.
What can we do?
Please anyone help, i want to give up :(

Hi - didn't want to read and run.
I've never had a loss so don't know for sure what the next step is but from what I gather from others on OB and in real life there are things that can be tested for to determine the reason for recurrent loss. My friend has been through many losses and before she finally managed to carry to term they discovered something to do with her and her DH's bloodtype was causing it and once they sorted that out she got UTD.
I can imagine you want to give up as it would be so hard. Stay strong and don't let anyone fob you off with 'you're still young' - keep persisting until someone listens.
All the best :)

Sorry to hear about your miscarriages.
I think you would be best to talk to a fertility specialist. I see you're in Qtown so I'm not sure if there would be anyone near you, maybe Dunedin? GPs can be a waste of time for fertility stuff because they don't specialise in it so only know so much, most of the time we know more than them!
We have a really supportive, completely private group on Facebook that has about 90 members, a lot of them from here, all going through fertility issues, many are doing IVF. They are a wealth of knowledge and will be able to give you some ideas of the next steps. If you are interested in joining feel free to PM me
Don't give up, it will happen!

Oh and sorry, I just thought of something else. Have you tried acupuncture? I am currently doing two weekly sessions of acupuncture to try to prevent a miscarriage (I have had one mc previously). Also I'm not sure if you have heard of taking low dose aspirin daily - 75mg-100mg but my doc recommended I take that during TTC and pregnancy to try to prevent mc as well.

Hi Babynumber one
Our baby took two years to conceive - I really know the feeling But it is so worth all those tears.
I took 18 months to get pregnant the first time which ended in a miscarriage - I was devastated, anyway the month I finally fell pregnant I had gone to a Homeopathic dr the months before and also tried preseed which somehow or another got me pregnant. After the miscarriage I went to a Traditional chinese medicine clinic and they were excellent, the herbs were not great tasting but they also did accupunture and before I knew it I was pregnant again
Now she is a beautiful 6 month old.
I would really reccomend trying alternatives - herbs, accupressure, homeopathy is all a lot cheaper and easier than medical fertility treatment so I would defenitely try it first - Good luck and let me know the good news

I don't quite understand how IVF will help if you have been pregnant many times but had lots of miscarriages? Surely the issue is not with getting knocked up but with keeping the baby? Maybe you should change Drs as it doesn't sound like your current one is being very proactive, it can't be easy to keep miscarrying.
I hope you get a sticky baby very soon.
