My gorgeous DD has not gained more than 500g in the last 3 months She has dropped from above the 91st percentile to the 50th.

She is almost 9 months old. Is a BF baby and has a minimum of 5 feeds a day, more if she wants. She also eats three good size solids meals a day plus some snacks. I have just started introducing snacks inbetween meals.

By good size meals I mean 6 ice cubes of veges and half a watties simply create meat pouch for dinner and then 1/2 pouch of fruit. For lunch its usually a jar of food and most of a cruskit with vegemite and some yogurt and some banana. For breakfast it is one weetbix with warm water and 2 cubes of pears. We always feed her until she refuses any more

She has only recently started sleeping through the night (YAY!!) and her appetite has increased because of that. Also she is not crawling at all, does do some rolling around but not all time time IYGWIM.

So after all that I am just wanting to know if any other mums have experienced this with their bubs?

TIA

Im only freaking out a little bit. Really.

If she wasn't being =weighed, would you be at all worried?

So often the scales tell a stressful worrying story, but when you look at the baby you realise that actually they are thriving - eating well, sleeping well, developing and changing, wet and pooey nappies, smiley, chatty....
Has she been sick recently? That can be enough to throw off weight gains. Sometimes it takes time for a baby to find 'their' percentile, maybe 50% is just right for where she is at right now.

There is lots of info here if you want to have a look around http://www.kellymom.com/babyconcerns/growth/index.html

Thanks for the extra info.

She is 69cm and has gone from nearly 75th percentile to 25th in length also. Also is not moving a lot at all. No crawling, not even close! and some rolling but doesnt get around like some bubbas do. Mainly just back in forth in one spot. Her main movement is wriggly legs and waving arms.

She hasnt been sick either, has been teething but hasnt lost her appetite because of it.

I guess I am just freaking out as I feel like I am not doing enough but she is a happy healthy girl. Maybe she will buck the family trend and be naturally skinny!!

We had a similar experience with DD's 9 month weight check, I kept doing much the same as I'd been doing before the only change I made was to give her a dessert with dinner - fruit and custard or a serve of baby porridge and fruit. Previously I'd been giving fruit only.

She gained 500gms in a month. DD is super active though and growing in height like crazy.

I did what I needed to do to keep Plunket happy and off my back, we don't have to go back till she's 15 months. I was worried for that month that she wasn't growing as she should be, so yes I've had a similar experience and it sorted itself.

hi sbeach, my DD has had similar issues - she basically didn't grow for 3 months (was 6.1kg just after 3 months old, was still 6.1kg at 6 1/2 months old). She dropped from 50th percentile to about 8th percentile. Initially I was told to step it up with her solids by plunket (this was when she was just starting, so that meant introducing more meals - which it doesn't sound like you could do), but after that didn't make any difference, I was encouraged to take her to the GP.

The GP was happy with her developmentally, and said to review her weight in a month. In a month, there had still been no change so we were referred to a paedatrician. The paedatrician was also happy with her developmentally, and has agreed to follow up in 2 months time, referring us to a nutritionist in the meantime. After increasing the calorie value of her food, she has recently started putting on weight but would still be tracking on the 8th percentile (which is fine, some kids need to take that spot, but she still needs to gain to keep occupying that spot!).

Although they didn't find anything 'wrong' with her, I suppose the moral of my tale is that it's worth getting things checked out. Yes, for your piece of mind, but also simply to make sure that she is ok. I have a friend in a similar situation, her DD had blood tests and they found some issues with her liver function which they're working on now. I've found that all and sundry will try and convince you there's nothing wrong - that some kids are just small, that she'll just be petite etc etc, but I think it does pay to get it checked out. i think the fact that you're asking the question means your instincts are telling you something -even if it 's simply that it's worthwhile getting professional reassurance.

Whew sorry for the novel!
