I am 33 and have not been pregnant before, so I don't know what to look for. My fiance and I deliberately made love during my ovulation time (according to online calculators which I've been tracking myself on for a few months). This was 7 days ago. I haven't thought too much about it as I have mild unfounded paranoia that I might not be able to get pregnant.

I can't say I've had any symptoms different to what I would normally get heading towards my period. 3 days ago I was very emotional and sensitive, so much so that I ended up having a barney with my partner and drove home (we haven't spoken since - oh dear!). I've been emotional since then which is a combo of hormones (pmt or pregnancy?) and the current low in our relationship. I've been tired but then I'm often tired due to poor sleep anyway.

Yesterday morning I noticed when I got out of the shower that I had strange red patches under my right nipple on the breast. I have never had this before. The patches are not itchy, lumpy or sore, just a bit hot. They are still there today although seem to have receded a little. I also notice my breasts are slightly swollen although not sore, and the nipples a little bigger and darker. I have just looked again and don't think I'm exaggerating. My womb feels a bit period-y.

I could be wishing for symptoms. I've certainly wanted this rather desperately for years but have never tried for a baby until now.

Anyway, it's probably too early to work out but I thought I'd ask anyway, just in case :)

How soon can I take a test? It seems like ages until my period is due - 9th or 10th May according to my chart.

Thanks for your ears :)

Hey, didnt want to read and run, I think the best time to test is the day AF is due, but there are early response tests you can get that you can take about 4 days before shes due. I haven't heard much about the accuracy of these tests though sorry.
As for the red patches - maybe they are just irritant spots from a bra or washing powder? Keep an eye on them, see how they go.
Good luck :-)

Hey tere,
Just wanted to pass another comment....if Ovulation was 10 days ago, normally your LP (time from ovulation till period is due) is 14 days, so it would be unsual for you to still be 7 - 10 days away from period.
Unless you have a very long LP (however I have never heard of one quite that long.
Do you know how long your cycles are normally?
If Ovulation was accurate then a test may work in the next couple of days!
Good luck

Hi Aha

I'd agree with Inkedpixie, I usually don't test until AF is due, but then again i've been TTC for a while i don't bother testing at all, just waiting for AF.

If you are charting come over to the charting girls thread, there plenty of helpful ladies in there who are great with all my tricky questions :)

To be precise we tried on the 23rd, 25th, 27th April. 25th was ovulation day according to the chart (who knows what my body was actually doing at that time lol). So from ovulation it has been 7 days. AF due in another 7 days according to the chart.

How accurate are these charts? My AF slots in well but who really knows?

I'll check out the charting forum. Thanks :)

I would do a test when you are about 10 or 12DPO(days past ov), sounding pretty good so far!!

Thanks :) I feel sort of stretchy/puffy all over but mostly around my tummy. Guess I either have IBS or I might be up the duff lol. Tomorrow I will be 8dpo. I wonder.
