Topic: What did you take/do to help with TCC Posted: 21 August 2010 at 6:57am |
We are looking at TTCing again in the future and I was just wondering what others did or took to help the TTC process and do you think any of them made a difference.
Last time I did not take anything apart from folic acid.
Anyone used things such as preseed and felt it made a difference?
ETA: Oops you guys know what I mean TTC not TCC LOL!!! hmmmm not sure what TCC could stand for.

Preseed for DS but no idea if it made a difference or if it just happened to be our month! It was the third month of trying. But that month I was much less focused on trying as well and I think that attitude must have helped. The 2 months before it I had ALL the symptoms of being preg!!! but wasn't - and the month it happened I didn't obssess around getting pregnant and in the end had no symptoms til I missed AF!
This time we weren't even trying.....

I wouldn't take anything other than folic acid unless you've been advised to by your GP or qualified health provider.
I took vitex cause if was recommended and it totally screwed up my cycle and contributed to taking longer to get UTD.
I took my temp and charted to work out my cycle and went from there, turns out I have a 34 day cycle not a 28 day one so DH and I were running out of puff before ov had even occurred.

Other than B6 and Zinc in your diet I wouldnt take anything unless your cycles are not regular...
I have random cycles that (pre Jake) varied from 30-37 days and most were annovulatory so I tried vitex and got pg that very cycle. Could have been a coincidence though LOL
Post Jake my hormones were all over the show and I was still bf but my cycles were regular 39/40 days with ov on CD32) but my LP was way too short so took B6 tablets to help with that and vitex again to help balance out my hormones. It took us 3.5 months to conceive...
Preseed is not a bad place to start... just to help those swimmers find there way a bit better

1st time around, nothing but folic acid and it took 7 months.
We have starteed TTC no 2 and I am on vitex as my cycles are all over the place. I have also started charting to get a better idea of whats happening and am going to start acupuncture.

If your cycles are regular I wouldn't think you need to take anything but folic acid... preseed can help the swimmers live a bit longer but TBH I'd give it a few months of just going with the flow first
The thing that ended up making the diff for us after 18 months of TTC was Natures Way vitex as it shortened/normalised my cycles but if you have "normal" cycles anyway there is no need for it and could just muck things up like it did for CJ...

I took blackmores conceived well gold and DH took the Blackmores men's multi for about a month before.
we worked out from a calender when i was due to ovulate and we had bedroom olympics every day for 10 days (massive effort) i was determined to catch that egg! and we conceived 1st go, a massive surprise we thought it was going to be a struggle. Just hope it sticks.
I ordered preseed online but never got the chance to use it as it arrived after we had confirmed but i've heard really positive things about it

BD every second day from about CD10. Then if you get a positive OPK BD every day for 3 days straight, then cut down to every second day again.
I have longer cycles (32 days) and I was doing it too much too early in the month and not enough later on.

Nothing...all the times I got pg I either was not trying or had given up trying, so only took folic acid after confining pg. I moved on to Blackmores preg & BF ones when I told my m/w I was getting heaps of cramps in my legs.

I was taking vitex, women's multivitamin that had b6 in it, zinc, etc for months and I didn't get pregnant and tried preseed and opks, charting etc and it was the month I threw it all away and left charting alone that I got pregnant so jury's out on that one for me. I think take folic acid and see how it goes for a few months. I would only take vitex if you have a long or irregular cycle, or feel your hormones are a bit imbalanced, it doesn't do anything otherwise. Just see how it goes and try not to get stressed until you have to but that's easier said than done!

i went to a chinese doctor a friend recommended and was pregnant the next month. he said he had got everyone but 1 person pregnant who was severley overweight. Just gave me some chinese medicine pills and we were off. About $60 for appointment and pills so well worth it. Jason Xu in Wellington was the guy I went to (friend just enquired and he's fully booked until October)

I took B6, magnesium and we used preseed the cycle we conceived. The other random thing I did that I only just noticed when flicking back through the original charting thread was I decided to take ginger to warm up my body as I think I remember someone else was doing stuff to keep their body warm (recommended by their naturopath). So I'm definitely going to do that again next time we TTC just in case
