Are there any traditional presents recommended for First birthdays or Christmas'?

My grandfather said a teddy bear for first birthday, but wondering if there was anything else?

What did you get your children for their first Xmas and first bday present?

Thanks in advance, and yup - I'm planning ahead!

for both my babies first christmases, I got them a soft buzzy bee ball, they loved it

One thing I do , which you are welcome to use , is every year ,the night before their birthday , I write my kids a letter telling them all about their year that year .
I will give it to them on their 21st birthdays

Jaes godmother gave her a sterling silver bracelet with her name and D.O.B engraved on it, and for her first birthday we bought a musical jewellery box to put it in when its too small for her, along with other jewellery items we will collect over the years (she has a butterfly necklace from our first trip to butterfly creek, and a coin pendant from DPs first trip away from her!)

for xmas she was 6 months old, so we just got her some age approproate toys, and clothes.
