RANT!!

Grrrrrr what is worng with my baby???  I"m getting REALLY p!ssed off...she is SO tired and desperately needs to sleep but she wants me in there rubbing her back or even better, BF her while she naps. I'm not prepared to do either of these things anymore - I"ve BF her, she's full, not cold,I"ve rubbed her bloody back for half an hour but she just wants Mummy but I am feeling bleerrgh and NEED to sit down. It's been nearly an hour now and I"m so annoyed! I HATE leaving her to cry but come on, she's one now, I'm in the next room, it s a morning nap and she needs it!!!!!! Why won't she just sleep??????

We had a shocker of a night last night- she did the exact same thing from midnight-3am and I am now shattered.  She's not unwell just annoyed at going to bed.

I've only got sympathy and hugs sorry! DD was sleeping through like an angel and now all of a sudden between 12-4ish we have all sorts of issues at night. She's warm, fed, and dry.

Flippin flip flip flip!

Nooooooooooooooooooooooo!

Aaaww thanks for the hugs and kind words guys...I just needed a friend

She went to sleep after an hour (!!!) of rubbing backs, crying ssshhhing and is still asleep (I told her so. Hrrrmph).

I think its our own fault- she only had one nap Saturday morning vos had her birthday partySaturday arvo then yesterday we stupidly went out for brunch in the morning so she only got 40 min nap in the car...then nothing yesterday arvo cos we had another birthday party to go too!  Think last night and htis morning are just a combo of overtired and baby meltdown. I know now for next time. Silly me- she needs her routine (and so do I!)

Oh hun, it sucks doesn't it. Boobs need a break from all that sucking, don't they!!

The best solution I've found is to go and feed her in my bed when she's like that. At least then I can doze or read a book and am comfy and eventually when she drops off to sleep I just make sure she's barricaded in so she can't roll out and leave her there if I haven't fallen asleep myself

Oh hugs, we (fingers crossed) just seem to be coming out the otherside of this.

Jake was insane! He screamed and screamed and refused to sleep day or night unless he was with us... seperation anxiety!

We worked on nights first, and we had to do CC its the only thing that would work and last night he woke 3 times and twice put himself back to sleep after a wee cry and the other time I had to go give him a cuddle and then he cried a bit and went to sleep.

Today has been a big success.. he slept in his cot for the first time since we have been back from Aussie (A month!).

Oh and yup we are down to 1 day sleep and it blows but today he actually slept for 2 hours (with a wake and cry in the middle).

When do they stop changing the rules on you????

I also freak out about what will happen when bubs arrives but I am firmly under the thoughts that I just have to have a good sleeper, eater, grower this time... its the rules!

*hugs* That sucks hun and I know how you feel.

Caden dropped a sleep ay 12 months too Im afraid, but it wasnt so bad, I just put him to bed at about 11.30 instead and then, he went to bed earlier at night and it actually worked out better for us all. I was pregnant then, so having more of the evening to myself was really good.

My DD has dropped one sleep this week and has been having just one nap after lunch and yep goes to bed earlier - it a bugger because I used to use the morning sleep to do the housework, get dressed, brush my hair, teeth etc now have to do it with DD following me around and investigating everything

Karen, H went through this about a month ago - I wasn't convinced that he was ready to drop a sleep so we stuck with it. We have been going through a bit of an unsettled and stressful time (including me feeling pretty sick with ms) and I think he was just picking up on that and turned into a monster! He was also not sleeping well at night around the same time.

What I ended up doing was putting him in a tighter routine and doing CC (much as I hate it) but at this stage it was really working for us. I never let him cry for more than 5 min at a time, and there was a fair amount of cuddling and rocking involved, but we got through it. He is still having 2 sleeps a day, about 1.5-2 hours each time, and no signs of being ready to drop one just yet.

Good luck hun!

Could be a combo of changing day sleep routines and separation anxiety?

We went through a similar thing, and looking back I think he was starting to drop a nap and also going through an increased period of separation anxiety. And I think I unwittingly started his addiction to feeding to sleep about then... Doh.

I'm sure she'll come through it eventually, hopefully sooner than you hope!

We dropped to one day sleep at 12 mths too, DS was waking waaaaaaaaaay too early and mega fussing at nap time, I found it less stressful to change to one sleep than battle two IYKWIM.

We started by stretching him out to around 11am, he'd do 2 or 3hrs and do two half lunches before and after sleep and early bed time. You get a feel for when they are looking a bit more lively at 11.30 and stretch out another 15mins at a go until they are happy to have a proper lunch at 12 and go down at 1pm.
