For those of you that got some improvement in your baby's reflux from using gaviscon, how long did it take to work? My poor little screaming baby.

Oh but anything less that the 6 doses a day didn't work for us, but I think we have a severe case of silent reflux cause he's still on Losec now.

Took a couple of doses to see an improvement but then after a couple of days he was all bunged up. We moved onto Losec instead.

His first dose was in his before bed bottle, and he had the best sleep ever that night (at that point in time IYKWIM)
Gaviscon is my DSs drug of choice. Dr tried to move him on to randitadine (sp) but it didn't work for him. He needs it in every bottle. At the beginning that was 5 1/2 a day, now it's 4.

Hi, my baby boy had silent reflux and he was on gaviscon up to six times a day, because I was breastfeeding, until we could see the specialist to get him on ranitidine. The gaviscon did work from the first time he had it, but it was a nightmare getting it into him, and I lived in fear of him missing a dose. We were reluctant to put him on ranitidine, but within three days of him taking it I took him off the gaviscon and he became a "textbook" sleeping baby.
I absolutely feel for you, it broke my heart to see my little boy in pain, even when he slept. Don't give up on the gaviscon, it will work -- however, if ranitidine is an option for you, I recommend you don't hesitate to try it. My son is now 19 months old and he is still on ranitidine -- but I will slowly take him off it soon.
Hope this helps.

Thanks everyone. She did have a better day today after 2 days of the gaviscon 6x/day. Will still head back to the docs though to get the ranitidine or losec if I can convince the Dr to prescribe it.

Hey thesaff we tried gaviscon for a week then went onto ranitideen and it has made all the difference I hope you are successful in getting it as I find it easier to give to DD and more effective.
