A close friend of mine has a bub who has had rotavirus in the last week or so. Does anyone know how long it would be before it is safe for my DS to be around her bub again without risk of contracting the virus?
I have been told that once the diarrhoea (sp?) has stopped the infected person is no longer contagious... but have also heard that the virus can live on surfaces for long periods of time and is resistant to alot of disinfectants?
Rose, one of the little boys in our antenatal group got rotavirus only a few days after a catchup, I seem to remember her saying something about a week or so being contagious?
I'd err on the side of caution though, and allow maybe a bit longer. I have no idea how long it can stick around for on surfaces.
