Hi Ladies Sorry in advance for TMI!!

Just wondering what peoples experiences have been ttc after having the depot injection?

I had 2 injections, one september last year, one december last year. I was due for the next in March, but didn't have it as I was bleeding a lot on the jab. So it's now almost 11 months since my last jab, and still my cycle is a mess. Since then we have decided to ttc for # 3, but at the moment that is nearly impossible with my cycle the way it is. I think I had af in august and septemeber, and possibly last week, but not 100% sure it was af, and I have bleed on and off all year (heavier than spotting/ not as heavy as af - often for weeks at a time) Usually I could tell when I was ov, (thats how we concived #2) but since depot I haven't been able to. I have OPK's, and have tested when I have felt 'funny' but so far they have been negative. I have done HPT's twice as I have had 'preggy symptoms' (exteremely tired, feel like throwing up all day, pp, sore boobs)but BFN's both times.

Does anyone have any advice... is there anything I can do to help my cycle so we can ttc?? Or is a just a matter of waiting?

TIA!!

Hi Nicolaann, maybe you should try taking vitex as it is supposed to help sort out hormones? Just a thought. How frustrating for you Best of luck!

vitex is good and so is clomid if you have an specialist who will give it to you. i was on it for 9 months before i ovulated after being on depo so if your looking at TTC i would take something as opposed to waiting it out cos it may take quite a long time, although its different for everyone. vitex is probably a good start

Hi nicolaann, your doctor may not have even heard of Vitex (mine hadn't!) - you can get it from the health shop. It is really good.
It can take a couple of years to sort your cycle out after coming off depo.
You could also start charting so that way you would be aware of ovulation if it does happen.

Wow ur situation sounds so like mine! i also had two jabs and didnt go for the 3rd, except ive only been off for 4 months...
Had spotting the entire time i was on it. When my next shot was due i started taking BCP again but after 10 days i chucked that in as well. not sure that made things better or worse. Had two AFs close together then that heavy spotting/ very light AF for 7 weeks.
I started taking vitex about a 8 days ago- the spotting seemed to stop straight away! There's been a bit there yesterday and today though so i hope its not coming back!
Im charting atm it may help u to give it ago.
What im on is called PMS essentials: containing vitex B6 and a few other things. Got it from the chemist.

Sorry bout long spiel and not much advice haha

Thanks heaps ladies. I went to the health shop this morning, but couldn't remember the exact name (oops, thought it was vertex!!) so the lady had no idea. Will go to the chemist and have a look for the pms essentials.

I think I will have to start charting, although not too sure where to start. Will come and have a look at your thread. Have had a quick look on FF, but need to do some more reading.

Rachel, althought it's awful you have had the same problems, it makes me feel a little better I'm not alone. Thanks for posting I look forward to charting with you all!!

Ok, a couple more vitex questions....

I bought the thompsons 'one a day vitex 1000'. It says to have one capsule first thing in the morning. I have taken it for 3 days now. I noticed straight away that the bleeding stopped, but by the evening it startes again, and is heavyish in the morning before I take it. Do you think I should take another capsule in the evening?? (they are 1000mg) Any ideas on what doasge to take a day??

Thanks again!!

I dont know much about vitex but I do about the Depo. It can take up from 6months to 18months for regular periods post stopping Depo. Its absolutely sh*t when you want to concieve. I reckon try the vitex and maybe take one in the morning an done in the evening if you are allowed to take more. Some of the ladies in the charting thread use vitex and would be able to tell you alot more then me.
