Topic: Feeling bad about junk food intake Posted: 10 July 2009 at 11:59am |
Most of being pregnant for so far has been fighting back the near constant urge to projectile vomit.
Basically I feel like I'm hung over ALL THE TIME.
Ergo all Iwant to eat is hangover food which in my case is burger king. If I could, I'd eat it every day as it gives me a few hours relief from the constant nausea.
Now I know it's bad for me and will make me gain weight like crazy so I'm trying to limit my intake but dear god a whooper would be really good right now.

I'm guessing you're in the first trimester? Don't worry about it too much, eat whatever you need to to feel better, once you start feeling better you'll be able to stomach more healthy food.

Ohhh yeah mine is hot salty chips, fried chicken and maccas!!! I'm fully sympathetic hun and I have major body issues - I'm terrified of gaining un-needed weight while pregs. I've been compromising by having a milkshake first then a smaller burger but I don't know if theoretically thats gonna help lol give it a few weeks and hopefully it'll settle down!

I had reallly bad M/S until around 14 weeks and the only thing I could keep down my McDonalds Chicken nuggets and rice milk (I normally hate any type of milk)- was the most random thing, but man did they taste good, and I was so happy when I found a food I could actually keep down. I would just go with the flow and listen to your body.....

I ate loads of BK in the first trimester too. Junior Whoppers and chicken tenders. I agree with eating whatever you can keep down at this stage ... soon you'll be feeling better and able to eat normal stuff ... or you'll have a new craving

I was the same but for me it was pies & Maccas. I felt guilty about it too but it soon passed as the MS subsided.
When you are feeling that bad there is no way a piece of fruit is going to cut it!!
I figure eating something is better than nothing. Hope you feel better soon.

I ate junk food throughout my pregnancy , baby was healthy and a good weight , (8lbs 5 ) and I didn't gain very much .
I love junk food too much to stay away from it

I lived on jacket potatoes and pancakes for the 1st trimester, neither of which are that healthy when they are the only foods you are eating, but you just make up for during the next to trimesters and really crap food is better for you than no food

i figure anything is better than nothing. I crave chicken burgers so much. Just love them lol. im still losing weight and ive stopped vomiting for two weeks now. Eat whatever you can and whatever you feel like. Theres got to be some reason for it - our bodies arent stupid - maybe we need the extra fat atm

Just eat what makes you feel better and dont worry about it, once you start feeling better you probably wont want what your craved when you felt sick
My craving was anything sweet! and I drank HEAPS of chocolate primo, and now I cant go near the stuff

This is a bad thread! DH is working late so I haven't made dinner. Will ask him to swing by and get burgers on the way home now
I lived on pancakes, hashbrowns, chicken nuggets and mince and cheese pies (I used to eat a pie maybe once a year) and drunk gallons of chocolate milk. Once the morning sickness subsided I was able to eat like normal and 4 or 5 weeks after Harper was born I was back down to pre preggie weight again. I think it's really only a problem if you keep eating badly once the morning sickness has gone so worry about it then. At the moment you need to eat and there's no point trying to eat food that's going to come back up.
BTW..........vegemite........in reverse..........

Was the same for me.cheeseburgers and skinny salty fries for me. I was hardly eating anything and lost weight too. MS was awful but once it went I started to gradually eat better. Funny enough havent put on that much weight. I know loads of people who had the craving for junk food. I think there's something that seems to settle your stomach in it. Just go with it and when start to feel better with the ms you can eat healthier.
disco:)
hope you feel better soon, mS sucks!

i agree - i havent been eating that great but I have quickly learnt to eat what I can and feel like because if i dont i feel awful! Cant wait for the MS to go away so i can feel semi- normal again.

yep was the same for me too - all I wanted was KFC potato and gravy and KFC chips, McD Chicken burgers, BK chicken burgers. Have put on bugger all weight due to being sick though and now that the MS has finally pretty much lifted I am feeling like eating normal again, so don't worry it's just a phase will pass soon, hope you're feeling better real soon!!

The foods that seem to stick for me are anything greasy, french fries, hamburgers, toast with butter, sausage rolls, hotchips, even samosas!
I've gone from nausea to full-on vomiting now. Not fun.

As cuppatea said crap food is better than no food. Mine was cheesy potato bake and despite eating it for lunch and dinner most days I managed to lose weight - constant vomitting will have that affect.
2 weeks post pregnancy I have a beautiful healthy baby and I'm pretty happy with my figure, especially considering what it's been though in the past 10 months.
