Just interested to see how many mums out there got pregnant with their 2nd (or 3rd, 4th, 5th etc.) before getting their period back.

Especially for breastfeeding mums.

I'm pregnant with my first, but my mum did just that with her #3 and #4. She was still breastfeeding. In each case she got pregnant when the previous one was 14 months old.

i have no personal experience but our ante-natal lady drilled this into our head last week so i thought i'd share. she said unless your exclusively BFing every 4-5 hours (i think) including overnight, your cycle can return and you are not protected. she also said that you will ovulate before your first period so it is totally possible to get pregnant even before your first period. im not entirely sure on how many hours between feeds but i do now it had to include nights every night for you to avoid pregnancy. hopefully someone with experience will be able to help you out but i thought id share what id been told :)

Cheers, I'm not concerned or worried, I was just wondering if this was a frequent occurrence. My brother and I have 16 months between us as my mum got pregnant with me when my brother was 7 months, and she never got her period in between (and exclusively BF until 5 months or so before introducing solids).

Wow!

If it's not TMI to ask how you knew you were feeling the ovulation? Did you get cramps?

Yea like cramps but not period pain. I always got those pains before I got my period so I after I had them I was waiting and waiting for my period to come and it never did... I thought maybe my body was just being wierd as it takes a while to get things back to normal after having baby because my first test at the docs was negative a couple weeks later came the nausea and wierd cravings and the +tive HPT!

Are you trying for another? It is definitly possible and I think it is actually quite common. We were trying (when I say trying I mean we weren't taking precautions) and I thought it would take forever. Was caught off guard when it happened so fast. Then someone told me you are very fertile in the first year after havinga baby although I have no idea if that is true or not!

Interesting.

Yes we are trying, but similar to you - just no contraception. My period hasn't returned but in saying that, last time I got pregnant coming straight off the pill, so I don't know what my regular cycle will be like.

Because I want to get pregnant again, I think I read too much into everything! I don't want to waste too much money on pregnancy tests - I have taken 3 already since December! All BFN. The most recent was 2 weeks ago.

Oh good luck!! I know how it feels, every little thing you wonder if it is pregnancy. I think it is easier to just forget you are trying (if that is even possible) and then before you know it it happens :) Took us ages to get preg with our first. It wasn't untill I enrolled in fulltime study that I got pregnant and had to cancel my study plans.
