Has anyone else had this?

I was prescribed iron pills a week or so ago, and noticed that every time I take one I feel pretty average afterwards. Then on Friday, when I was home sick with a cold (which probably was a contributing factor) I projectile vomitted my breakfast back up after taking one (sorry, TMI)

Does anyone have any tips on taking these? I've tried them on an empty stomach and after eating and still feel blurgh...

It's got to the point where I haven't taken one for the last couple of days and am a bit scared to take another one in case I throw up again...

Josica- I found that iron pills make me nauseaus.... and i found out my mum was the same.

Try liquid suppliments- eg Floradix, Im good with that, and it tastes nice. its iron from natural source, easier to absorb, not so taxing on your liver. From the supermarket too. U get around 15mg iron per day plus other B vits.

I noticed it the most in the first 10 weeks and spoke to the naturopath about it- she said often people cant absorb the amount of iron in suppliments and the liver just cant cope- hense nausea.

Hmm - thanks for this.
The ones I've been prescribed are the 200mg  ferro-tab pills with 65mg of iron in them. I wonder if I need that much - and if the floradix would have enough??

I think I'll give my MW a call...

I was diagnosed as anaemic twice during my pregnancy, but found the iron I was prescribed must have been too strong for me as I kept vomitting it back up after I took it
Lowered the dose and I was fine, might pay to check with your doc about the dosage

I've found that if I take the pills with food I'm fine - phew!
