Hi Everyone

How many days before ovulation do you have to bd to be able to get pregnant. And I think trying to get pregnant is a timing thing. You have to get the timing right which is so hard to do

I think that the most fertile days are the 2 days before ovulation and the day of ovulation itself, however sperm can survive in cervical fluid for 6? days so technically you could get pregnant from any day in that 7 day window (ovulation + 6 days prior)

In terms of timing the BD'ing every day is good in the fertile window but if that's too much than every 2nd day should cover it.

Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong anyone!

i think the egg only lasts for 10 hours? from releasing so BD 2 or 3 before ovulation and during is best. It is so tricky to get the timing right though.
Are you temping?

it really depends on the sperms ability to survive in the woman's body

in the right environment sperm could last for 3-5 days - however it is safer to assume it will only survive 1-2 days

what is normally suggested is you BD every second day to make sure you catch your ovulation and to give your partner's sperm percentage to 'grow'

a really good book to read is "taking charge of your fertility" by toni weschler

it explains all the physiological things going on with your body and how to recognise when you are about to ovulate so you can time things correctly

good luck!

There are so many different "facts" about these things. I recently read that you should BD every day around O so as not to miss the window. It went on to say that it is not necessary to wait for every second day unless there are known problems with sperm production in the male.

Personally, we try to time it for the 3 days prior & day of O - but as always things don't always go according to plan
