How many weeks were you when you first heard baby's heartbeat with a doppler? I haven't had a early scan so I'm wondering if I will get to hear it at my first mw appt tomorrow? I will be 10weeks+6days.

We heard it this time round at 10 weeks, but the midwife was surprised. In fact she didn't really want to even try unless I understood that it was probably too early and I shouldn't stress out if we didn't hear it.

11 weeks for me, just on a friend's doppler, it took ages to find.

My MW also made it clear at 13wks she may not be able to find it, baby is so tiny and wriggly!

I think I was somewhere in around the 12-14 week mark also. I know it did take her a little while to find...wriggly little ratbag!

My midwife didnt want to try when I saw her at 11w5d. She couldnt find it, but I did get to hear a vein in my lower abdomen LOL.

You may be able to hear it, but it is unlikely so try not to get disappointed if you dont.

I remember I was 10 weeks at my first MW visit with Benjy and she said that it may be too early to hear it, but as soon as she put it on my tummy he was there, thumping away

Hey Mrs B. I had my mw appt today, 10 weeks + 3 days. Couldn't hear a thing. She wasn't really that worried about doing it, but when I said I don't care if you can't hear it, I heard it at 6 weeks, she said OK, I'll have a go. She didn't want to do it as some Mummies freak out when she can't find it.

She said it's odd to hear it before 12 weeks, it has to be in just the right place etc, and I imagine my retroverted uterus didn't help things either.

Roll on 12 weeks I say!

The earliest I've heard is 11 weeks.  That was with Jett.  The other 2 were 12 & 13 weeks.

9 weeks with Maya, 12 with the gremlins and 11 with lil miss. WIth the gremlins and lil miss I had a home doppler tho and it did take a bit of finding. I was about 14 weeks before I could reliably find it every time.

Well had my appt and no luck with hearing the heartbeat. MW said it depends where baby is sitting, whether up by the fundus or down lower by the cervix. Nevermind 13 more sleeps until my scan!

Mrs B if your bubs is like mine, it is trying to hide from the doppler.

You will hear the heartbeat when you have the scan... its awesome. I listen to it whenever i feel blue!
