Topic: And the preggy brain strikes... Posted: 07 October 2008 at 8:17pm |
I have totally lost my car keys at my husbands work. I came in around 5.30, used them to lock my car, and have no recollection of them after then. I don't remember putting them down, or hearing them fall, or anything. I've been looking now for 2 hours, there's no sign of them, and I'm so annoyed with myself! I mean, they HAVE to be here somewhere! But I think I have to stop looking now cos I'm just getting more and more worked up.
SO... any more stupid preggy brain stories out there to make me feel better?

Hmmmm, I left the grill on for a long time and the toaster was on the top of the stove. Toaster got melted and stuck!
I keep turning the wrong elements on and getting angry that pots of stuff won't boil!
The oven is my preggy brains enemy!
Hope you find those naughty keys!!!

erm.... went to doc appt and got to my car and realised keys were still in the door...oops hehe... get to car and realise handbag is still on double... oops again...
with DS I still remember deciding I felt like ice cream so got some and put it back in the freezer... (picture a freezer/fridge combo with small freezer at top.... and the microwave up on top of that) Ex came home and wanted some ice-cream and asked me where i put it... I thought that was a pretty dumb question and told him so...um.... several hours later I went to put something in the microwave... guess what I found...
That was just THE classic preg brain moment from DS's pregnancy... im hoping I dont beat it this time round... but its not even been a week since I found out... and already doing dumb stuff.... so theres a pretty good chance I will soon lol!

Oh no Cathrine, I hope you've found your keys now. Hope my tale will cheer you up....
Last winter, when pregnant with DS, I managed to drain two (previously full) 25,000L watertanks . We live in the country and rely on these tanks for our water, and even though it was winter it was another 15 days before it rained again go figure. Meant we had to have showers at work, eat takeaways to avoid doing dishes etc....
Things actually went from bad to worse. First I only partially drained one tank, by leaving the hose to the horses water trough on accidentally for about four hours. But just a couple of days later DH came to supervise the filling of the horse troughs, turned the hose on full bore for me and hassled me about six times to remember to turn it off this time. Wouldn't you know it? I walked down the drive to check the mail, returned and went back into the house and completely forgot about it until I saw the flooding in the paddock the NEXT MORNING . Luckily there was just a tiny bit of water left in the tanks so we didn't burn the pump out, phew. Losing your keys isn't sounding so bad now is it? .

LOL I just put cold water in the tea pot at work instead of boiling first, then I put the hot water in the pot but forgot the fresh tea bags.
Now thats a preggy brain.

I'm terrible - I keep putting things in the wrong place and I'm forever using the wrong word for things when I'm talking.
DH is always correcting me, and I just smile and say "yes, that's what I said"
I suppose the worst was when I didn't think to clear the wing mirrors on the car on a damp morning, and reversed straight into the brick wall at the end of our driveway. DH was quite sweet - I'd never have got away with it if I wasn't pregnant!!

I've just done the budgets for 2009 for all my customers. It's over a million dollars to allocate so hopefully I haven't stuffed it up too bad or next year is going to be a doozey!
I just started to type something else that I did but now I can't remember what it was......

I'm forgetting words all the time! I had to order some folders yesterday, and rang up the company and they asked which style and I said "Umm, the ones with the three thingies and the thingy in the side" luckilly the person there knew what I was talking knew what I was talking about as we'd ordered them before!

I boiled the kettle at work for a drink and thought oh I'll fill the sink at the same time and do some dishes, the water from the tap is not quite hot enough so I'll use the left over water to top up. So what happens when the kettle boils.. I fill the sink draining the kettle and forget my cup. Just reboiling the kettle now

I got some meat out of the freezer, but by the time I reached the microwave to defrost it, the meat had completely disappeared. I went mad, and searched almost the entire kitchen. I thought I had gone crazy. When DH got home, he found the meat on a plate in the plate draw... I must have opened the draw, put the meat on a plate, and forgotten to take the plate out... the microwave is right above the plate drawer. So between the plate drawer and the microwave, my brain lost all recollection of the need to pick the plate UP once the meat was on it.
*sigh*

eek Spirals, all my car scrapes have been when I was pg One crash (side-swipe) and two scrapes on concrete parking edges (about a foot tall). One scrape and the crash were both in the same day - to make it worse!!

I put my keys in the fridge when I went out one day (the fridge is in the garage)
Nope they weren't lost. I was able to find them immediately. Although I was not thinking at all and have no recollection of putting them there or why.
