Topic: Due date calculation Posted: 03 October 2008 at 2:58pm |
I just found out that I can calculate my EDD from either my last period or from the time I ovulate. Now my cycle length is strange and varied and the period calculation using your cycle length (28 days) to calculate the time. If I use that system I'm about 5 weeks pregnant today, but if I use the ovulation date then I'm almost at 7 weeks!
What system did you use?

so if you use ovulation do you add 2 weeks on? If you are certain of your ovulation I would use that. Are you getting an early scan? If so, wait till then to know.

I see my midwife next week so I might talk to her about getting a scan done in a week or two.

oh, I didnt answer your Q. I used from ovulation( kinda....actually from date of "the deed" ) as my LMP was ages before that. My scan put me back a week so I figured I must have been a few days before ov.

Hmm I'm probably having a preggie-brain moment (as usual) but that doesn't sound right to me! Technically, if you ovulated later in your cycle, that would put you further behind than your last period date.
For example, my last period was on May 31st but I didn't ovulate until day 20. So if I went by my LMP date I'd be about 18 weeks pregnant but because I go by my ovulation date instead I'm only 17 weeks (which my dating scan agreed with).
That probably makes no sense whatsoever lol

I had to get a dating scan done when I was 4 weeks, because from my last period it would have been 6 or 7 which I knew wasnt right.

lol Tracey Im exactly the same... had a bit of an argument with the GP I saw... (nowhere near as understanding as my last one ) and showed her my chart and everything... but its only 2 days, and I know when I concieved, so im sticking by those dates, and adding 2 weeks to that for EDD calculations lol.
I ov on CD12 almost every month lol, and was due for af on 13DPO, rather than 15DPO like 'normal' people...lol

Tracey it's pretty common to deviate alot from your LMP. You know when you ov so your figures are probably alot more accurate than your LMP.
According to my LMP I am nearly 10 weeks pg but I *know* I'm not...nt just from the scans but because I charted and knew I ov a week later than normal last cycle (thanks antiobiotics! lol). I wish I *was*bt further along then this #$%*& ms might be over with!
