Topic: TTC post reversal - anyone successful? Posted: 18 July 2008 at 10:04pm |
HI there - new to the forum and I can't seem to see a thread re TTC post vasectomy reversal. So only one way to find out! We haven't been too successful on the reversal side and are just about to launch into IVF (or as i like to say 'assisted fertility!) But - has anyone else been successful at this point? I'd like to hear some good news stories!

I haven't been through this. But I do know there is one woman on here (lulu) that her DH had the snip then reversal, but they ened up having their girl with the help of IVF. I also thing there is another woman who is trying after the reversal.
Best of luck.

I do know of two couples who had success after a reversal. One couple was male aged 42ish, female 38ish the other couple was male 38ish, female 43!
The first couple had their 2nd post-reversal baby this year. Oh, and there was 1 mc between their two bubbas.
Oh! That's right! With the 2nd couple, it was the lady who had a tube-tying reversal!
it took about 6 months I think?
I hope that helps.
Best of luck!

Thanks for the replies. Hubby had his reversal 14years ago so we were always going to be crossing our fingers that it would work!! More testing this week to see if any of his 'boys' can swim in the right direction, but either way it will be IVF. Crossing fingers!

I have a friend in Oz who had her post-vasectomy baby in May. It didn't take them long to get preg, but then it was only a couple of years between when her DH had the snip and the reversal and apparently that makes a big difference.

Hi there and welcome Missedge. Yes my DH had a reversal 5 years after the original vasectomy. Initial tests showed that the reversal was successful, but after 2.5 years of TTC we had more tests that showed that DH had antibodies which were treating his sperm as if it was disease, and basically killing it. So the chances of natural conception were less than 1%. So on to IVF we went - we had ICSI which is where they inject individual sperm into the egg, a bit more expensive, but also the statistics for success are higher. We were lucky enough to be successful on the first cycle and our Daughter Jaymie is now almost 1 year old. So there is a success story for you!
