    Posted: 22 May 2008 at 9:53pm

Tom doesnt really wear shoes but now that he has started daycare and goes out to play on the grass etc, socks dont work and its too cold for bare feet.  I do have a ocuple of pairs of bobux shoes but I would like something I can put socks on first.  With his bobux, the slip on and I worry that the socks will then squash his little toes.

i have looked at the bobux i-walk range and wonder if they are any good?  Tom is cruising at the moment so I dont think walking is far away and I want something that wont hinder his walking.  Any suggestions???

TIA

the kids at day care have i walks, i think they are great, really soft but very durable, they are expensive but you only need one pair they are really light, when the time comes for us to get shoes ill invest in those

The i-walk shoes are amazing. Elle's feet barely grew for ages so I invested in some and now...a couple of months later...they are almost too small as she's had a spurt...sigh.

I would love to get some more but am not sure if my bank account will allow it. If you can, I would recommend them. They are fantastic.

I have babyunique shoes for Daniel, they are similar to bobux but cheap, he crawls around in them outside and don't even show a mark on them yet which is surprising

Stacey, can you get them on over socks without squishing his toes?  Thats the problem I am having.  I', going to look at bobux today and see if there aer any styles that can open up a little to get them on and then tighten up.  I do like the look of the i-walk but not sure if we can afford it......maybe it will depend on how much I spend on groceries thisweek

Check out hoofs.co.nz

They have great shoes and also a seconds type thing so you can buy cheapies for day care. It tells you how to guess his size.

Also TnT had some cool walking shoes that laced up and had proper bottoms and also Number 1 have some walker shoes. They prob aren't as good as hoofs or the ones above but could be worth a look.

Yeah I don't have any issues with that so long as you get the right size but they are happy to exchange them

we brought some pitter-patter shoes from Farmers (similar to Bobux) and they work really for us- no issues with sizing and they go up to XL (18-24 months).

With the i-walk shoes I think they have hard soles so I would probably hold off for a while. Ella has been walking for over a month and is still wearing soft soled shoes.

I started a thread a couple of months ago in the product reviews section re: first shoes and got heaps of suggestions so you may want to check it out.

We love i-walks! They are really supportive around the ankle, and the sole is flexible yet is plastic - water proof and grip! We have soo many pairs of other cheaper shoes that just get so wet or wear out so quickly at daycare. Even if Isla's i-walks get wet in the sandpit etc, I just pop them in the hot-water cupboard overnight- and they are as good as new the next day!

I use 'Shoo Shoos' and 'Cute Baby Shoes' which are like Bobux, and have never had a problem with toe squishing and socks. If you're having problems, there is a possibility the shoe is too small and you just need to go up to the next size.

I'm wondering if the pair of bobux i brought were faulty they have lasted 3 weeks and are ruined!!
Luke wears them every other day at day care and is outside most of the time. But surely they should last longer??
Do the i walks last longer??

Do shoes help keep their feet warm in the winter? I'm trying to convince DH that Liam *needs* some shoes but he's not falling for it

Lucy's ones do. They're sherpa lined. It's possibly less of an issue when they're babies, but when they're walking I reckon it helps keep their feet warmer.

Of course he *needs* shoes Sally

Milo - the gremlins are in Bobux, they are still wearing the same ones they've had for about six months. They're pretty scuffed but otherwise holding up fine.

I really must concede that they do need some "real" shoes tho, I might take them out and look at the Iwalks next week.

Sally- we got given from slippers for Ella that are lamb's wool and they are great. They are similar to bobux, in the fact they have elastic to keep them on. They keep her feet nice and warm AND they aren't so easy to take off
