    Posted: 28 April 2008 at 9:29pm
I've read that a few of you are using fitted nappies overnight and I'm wondering what your recommendations are? Leo is 20mths and 13kg, quite short & stocky, and is a moderately heavy wetter. He used to wear a Foxybots nappy stuffed with a Nix-Kidz hemp fleece trifold and a Foxybots mf/hemp trifold but lately it's just not always holding up. So I'm tempted to try a 2-parter overnight but I'm nervous about the big spend in case it doesn't work out! I like the look of the Designer Bums hemp nappies & merino wool covers, but I'm not sure about sizing. And the Bitti Boo bamboo is tempting because I love the D'lish AIO but I'm not convinced it would hold up overnight.

Also, now that he's out of a Grobag, how do I keep his legs warm at night over a huge night nappy? I have a fleece all-in-one from JK which is good and roomy (with no pressure wicking at the waist), should I just go for more of these?

Many thanks for your advice!

Vic xx

I've only tried a couple so far but the Bamboozle I have is awesome. I put in an extra hemp insert and it easily lasts 11 hours (and she's a fairly heavy wetter). She's in a size 2 which you can use like a OSFA but it goes up to 18kg.

I got a bitti boo but I wasn't that impressed TBH. I tried it in the daytime to see how long it would go for and it lasted 4 hours unboosted which isn't much better than my bum genius. Plus I find it fiddly although it is VERY trim so may solve the outerwear issue. To be fair I don't think it's intended as a night nappy except for light to moderate wetters.

No solutions for the outerwear though - we use a merino nightie.

Fitteds are evil in our household. Daniel knows how to pee through the ones we have tried.

We just add an extra insert in our night nap. We are down to 2 hemp trifolds and a m/h trifold. There was actually an extra insert in there before lol.

We've just started using the Bitti Boos with one booster and a bummis cover and so far so good. They are a trim fit, the gremlins are in L and are about 10.5kg each.
They're still in Grobags, but I also put them in two piece PJ's a size too big to help keep them warm.
Oh and we're waiting on some soakers to use overnight instead of the bummis covers coz they breathe.

baby cuddles work quite well (with a booster) and they come with a wee linery thing so you can put stuff under that. Best of all they are only $23. We love our swadlebees too but they are a bit more pricey. I prefer fitteds to pockets most of the time anyway tho.

I'm using the Totsbots Bamboozles also and find them great. I am currently using them with the Totsbots covers but my Mother has knitted me a whole bunch of woollen soakers, which I need to lanolise to waterproof them.

I'm loving the Designer Bums Pocket fitteds at the moment - love being able to adjust the absorbancy and that they're reasonably quick drying. We use a soaker (like shorties) over the top at the moment but am hoping to get MIL to knit up some longies for Kaleb as it gets colder.
They are quite a large fit too and Angie is great - in fact she's added extra snaps to the naps as they were right in waist and rise but too big in legs.

Oh and the best thing about these is that $ from each one goes to Aria!!

i think the most absorbent fitted i have is a designer bums hemp fitted. other faves are a joel eze one size pocket fitted cause i can adjust the absorbency and a wigglebum fitted with a booster.
have heard great things about the nap nap night nappy too...

longies

Try that pattern its really easy. I'm using 8 ply wool on 3.5ml needles and its come up a really good size for Jack.

Thanks Rachel, are you knitting a 'large' on flat needles for Jack?

I don't know much about knitting this is only my second project so I'm just following the pattern exactly but its ended up a wee bit bigger than it says (it says 32 rows=4 inches but mine have more been 4.5 inches) so it seems to be the right size for Jack. Yip its on flats.

Thanks! I might undo what I've already done (boo hoo ) and start with your pattern. It looks much simpler!

Thanks for the encouragement Nikki. I really did want to knit them myself, I had just really hit a wall with my current pattern and had been a bit put off. I'm ready to start again tonight.

I started tonight and did about 40 rows or so. The pattern is dead easy and I'm so excited - heaps easier than the circular needles. I bought a lovely colour blended wool that has browns, blues & greys. I also picked up some bargain mulit-blues wool at the Warehouse for $1.97 a ball so if these turn out to be a success I'll be able to knit up another pair for next to nothing
