Hi All,
Has anyone had any problems with baby having nightmares? Twice now my poor wee man has been sobbing and crying in his sleep. The first time was in Plunket and they didn't seem to worried, the second time was last night. Both my husband and I find this very distressing. I have three older daughters and have never experienced anything like this. Any advice would be appreciated :)

Daniel has them every now and then, we go into him put the lamp on so that he can see us but the light isn't too bright and wait for him to calm down, turn the light off and hold him for a bit and pop him back down.

Thanks Stacey,
that was what we did last night, it is still just aweful isn't it :( Was wondering if there was anything that I was eating or drinking that was causing it? He is BF. As I am a tea drinker and have coffee when I go out, wondered if it was that? Any thoughts?
Cheers Lea

I remember a friend of my mums saying to me something like "oh babies don't have nightmares, what have they got to dream about?" I disputed her theory. I think that they do.

Cooper does it after he has had his imms. He wakes up screaming, like someone has broken his little heart, we pretty much do the same as Stacey, just give him a cuddle until he's calmed down. Hence, we now dread imms in our house.

I'd limit the amount of coffee you have, I always had one in the morning and nothing more for the rest of the day, as it unsettled him alot. I'm not sure about Tea as I don't drink it.

How old is he?

Thanks for that :) I did find one article on the net that suggested a baby cld experience nightmares as such if the were way over tired. So I will take note next time it happens :)
Josh is 3 months today :) if I could figure out how to put the ticker on i would, unfortunatly I figured out how to make it, but not how to attach it to the forum :)

Joshuasmum...im the same with the ticker :)

my boy was critical in hospital when he was 3 months with a respitory virus he stopped breathing a few times due to the mucus that was as thick as chewing gum in his throat....since then he has nightmares just about every second night.............its horriable, the crying is the worse as you know its a pain cry.........he had a spinal tap and they kept missing .........seeing him go through that and how strong he was just made me so much stronger.....i know he remembers it still as he only does it at night........im actually thinking his back still hurts..........but he is a tough little b'gger........and i dont care how many times i was told that they never remember cause they so do.......:)

Hugs to you!! It's not nice when they wake like that, Ava sometimes wakes crying, I go in and give her a cuddle!

As for the ticker, I use Lilypie, when you have created it you cut the BBCode and go into your profile then where it says signature paste the code into it, then save.

That should work, don't know about any others!

Ollie will let out the most awful scremas in his sleeps, like full on screaming / crying all of a sudden. By the time we get to his room he has normally stopped. We always just stroke his head and tell him everythings okay and he always settles straight back down. Its pretty heartbreaking though, and I hate the thought that he might be having nightmares!

Hi all,
Wow Tysmummy, you guys have been through so much, it must break your heart when your wee man has nightmares. I know how I feel with Josh
They are so perfect that it is so hard to see them suffer. Bad enough in dream land, but to go through a spinal tap with a wee babe. Good to hear he is better now. Hopefully the nightmares wont go on to long???
Hopefully I have figured out how to update the ticker - thanks for the advice Now just have to find a picture small enough to attach :)
