I don't know how many people know of this, or if anyone has thought about doing it or actually done it? A friend of my sister's told me about it.
Basically bandaging the loose skin back in place so it doesn't hang helps the muscles pull it back in. I think you do it for about the first 6 weeks. I'm contemplating it (although I can see already that I'll probably get tired of it after a few days  ), cos anything would be worth a try!
Does anyone have any experiences or know anyone that's done it successfully? It's a DIY jobbie, there is no medical recommendation or anything like that, just to help the post-baby flab tighten a bit quicker.

Hehe, yeah I don't know to what extent it works but my sister's friend looks amazing! I guess it's just effort and with a newborn I don't know if I could be bothered! (Or rather, find the time)

couldnt you jsut wear tight undies!!!!
sounds a bit ..... to me. the muscles are under the skin and if she is a younger person she may just have more elasticity anyway.

It's to do with the gravity thing GandT, as in if you have quite a bit of excess skin the gravity makes it harder for your skin to go back to normal.
Yeah, I don't know how much I believe it but I'm thinking it might be worth a go. Just talked to my sis some more and she said every woman in this woman's family has done it and they all regained their pre-preggy skin quickly. I did a wee search online and it's quite common in some other countries.

I think after a c-sect you can get bands anyway? (Someone please correct me if I'm wrong) I don't see why you couldn't, you'd just have to keep away from your stitches I guess.

I was given 2 x tubi-grips for my tummy muscle seperation thing. I would imagine that I could use those after birth. They feel like they push everything in. Only thing is, they are hot in summer. In winter I would imagine they would be cosy.

I just wore Nancy gantz pantz and belly band. Probably would have worked, but I couldn't be rrrsed after a week, plus I'm fat anyhow, and the physiotherapist said you still have to "hold" them in and do exersizes to help them regain their memory...

Ahh, that's a good idea, I could wear my Nancy Gantz on alternate days (I'm too cheap to buy more than one pair!)

yeah me too - even Pelvic floor exercises sounds like too much effort after the baby's here.(though I'm pretty sure I'll make an effort with those  )

I wore a support band thingy when i went jogging after my 6 week check, as i still had a bit of a jiggly tummy. It just felt more comfortable. As for wearing something after giving birth, i'm not sure if it would have helped much.

I bought some of those waist band thingys, don't know what they are called but they are from Shanton, they are just a tube of material that girls wear nowadays to give the layered cloth effect? Well anyway, I bought those as some days I found when my tummy hung over my c section wound it would start to ache, but then after a while the band would make it start to ache too! Sadly I can't say it has helped me gain back my pre baby belly, I can honestly say I don't think it will ever be what it was (I was super fit pre pregnancy though), I still have a little over hanging jelly belly - but no stretch marks so thats a bonus!!
Those stetchy things have been great though and worth the $10 each that they cost me!
If I actually had time to do any kind of exercise other than walking that might help!

I have been doing pelvic floor exercises everyday since I was 15. It's about the only exercise that I do... haha oh dear.

Well it makes sense to me! I mean if you had liposuction they give you pressure bandages to keep everything in don't they for skin support??

My mother had this done when she had her two children (31 and 36 now) and she swears that it worked for her and she had a flat tummy after just a very short time. I wonder if this was a common thing to do in Europe at the time and not anywhere else in the world??

What about ordinary support undies? Personally I'd rather not do it until after the bleeding (and bloated feeling) had settled and then give it a try.... who knows.

I know a lady that wore a girdle type thing for 6 weeks and when she took it off her tum was flat.
I worked my guts off this time round cos I hated how i looked after Caprece was born and it took just as long to get back to normal as it did with Jack where I sat on my ass and ate chocolate all day.
