Topic: Help! They keep trying to kill each other! Posted: 05 September 2007 at 10:33pm |
OK, so more like Mercedes keeps trying to kill Sienna, but what can I do? I try separating them but she's like some kind of seek and destroy missile and hunts Sienna down. Her fave thing to do is claw Sienna's eyes, but she's also a fan of pulling her bib/any clothing she can reach and pulling her hair.
The biggest problem is that Sienna has become a real sook and now any time that Mercedes so much as looks at her she cries and goes "Mama". And when you say "No Mercedes" or "Stop Mercedes" Mercedes looks at you like "mwahahaha!"
So what can I do? I can't separate them coz like I said they hunt each other out, and I don't want to encourage Mercedes to be a bully and Sienna to be a sook. But they're not old enough to understand why they're being told no, or that it's not a nice thing to do.
Any help appreciated, coz I can't leave them alone together for more than a minute to go to the toilet!

Tee hee, Emma! That sounds terrible! Poor little Sienna! If it is any consolation Quinn has always been my sooky child and he turned out (so far) ok! And I guess the important thing to remember is that this will mostly be a phase, Mercedes will eventually find someone/something else to pick on (bring her over here and she can bully kaia for a bit?) and that eventually there'll be a whole set of other things to worry about! Ah, the joy of twins!

you need to teach mercedes what nice touching is..i dont think she is meaning to be a bully but doesnt know any other way to reach out to her sister - or her depending on how she sees her...lol!
so maybe next time go no mercedes we dont pull siennas hair, and get her hand and maybe how to touch her nicely, stroke her hair. its like with small kids and pets...

I agree, teach her to be gentle. They don't know their own strength so I doubt she would be intentionally bashing her sister (we hope! hehe)
Caitlin used to run up to me, give me a lovely big kiss, then whilst smiling smack me in the face whilst going "awww"
We've done the same back to her but with hugs rather than her heavy handed stokes. She does it with nice hugs now and it just melts your heart!

ah the evil twin strikes again....LOL having seen her do it I know she can be vicious (unintentionally im sure!)
I have two persians who are currently putting up with clumps of hair being pulled out but also one bubba being told - "nice, gentle, BE NICE, GENTLE"...and am amazed how much they put up with....am sure they wouldnt mind a gremlin practicing on them so am offering free persian gentle lessons for them if you want

Oh your poor cats BS, I wouldn't inflict Mercedes on them, I'm sure BBS is bad enough on her own! But we really must come play soon!

PS. I think they are starting to get the idea of "no", today at the hairdresser they were crawling (and shuffling) around and kept trying to get into the hairdresser's basket of rollers and I would say "Mercedes, no" and she would turn around and look at me for a minute or two before she turned round and got into them again. So maybe being consistent is the key.

Awww, little gremlin bully!
Maybe you could equip Sienna with safety goggles and a helmet until the phase is over?
