#1 emergency c/s, I wanted to go home at day 3 but it was baby blues and I missed DH, but I still couldn't walk much and DH had no leave. So the mw convinced me to stay another night. I but it was for the best and I perhaps should have stayed another night again. MIL helped me out with washing/dinners etc at home. The other reason I wanted to be at home was to have some control over what I could eat etc. There was toast available at the hospital but I couldn't walk to get it and was too embarrassed to ask.

#2 successful VBAC! I had laboured for over a day and when I heard that the maternity ward was pretty full (so I'd have to room-share), I decided to go straight home. DD was born at 11am and I went home between 2-3pm. I really missed my DD1 but she ended up vomitting that night so between the girls, DH and I got hardly any sleep and it was a bad decision (again) in hindsight.

#3 decided to spend at least 24 hours at hospital until I felt settled with my new baby - because I knew I would automatically switch back to my busy mummy role at home once I got back. The first night was crap so I stayed another night and everyone was very good about letting me stay as long as I needed. Day 3 I went home and was so glad! I had missed my family but was also pretty bored!

I stayed 6 nights with #1 as he wouldn't feed and was on a naso gastric tube. I could have stayed longer, but was going crazy. I stayed 5 nights with #2 (and midwife wanted me to stay another night but I wanted to go home)as I wanted to get the feeding sorted after the problems with #1. I did get bored and second time I REALLY missed #1, but used the time to get some much needed rest (after #2) and do some reading!! I enjoyed it, nice staff, nice and quiet, nice meals.
The Honest Un PC Parent of 2, usually stuck in the naughty corner! :P

I had a c-section, had DS early hours of Saturday morning, changed hospitals on the Sunday and stayed until Wednesday arvo - so 4 nights. I was ready to go home.
