Hey guys,

Sorry if I seem a little naive about this

Was just wondering if I should still be exercising like normal (Usually bike to and from work every day (5km away) and run 7km around 3-4 days a week and also various activities on the weekend) during the tww and early pregnancy.

Biking would be fine I imagine but the run does put my body under a little bit of stress (not much but still) and I don't want to dislodge the little fulla if there is one up there.... (as in stress my body enough to cause a miscarriage)

Any thoughts on this or has anyone had recommendations from doctors to tone it down a bit?

Cheers,

Stace

It's more about what your heart rate is doing, I'm not 100% sure but when I asked my GP about this when I was preggy with Daniel he said not to get your heartrate up over 130 bpm

You're completely safe to keep doing what you were doing pre-pregnancy, but it's not recommended to start any new strenuous activity. Don't stop, keep your exercise up for as long as possible you'll be glad you did in the long run

Everything I have been told and read is to keep doing what you do normally until you can anymore. I work with a lady that was still doing body combat classes at 20 weeks!!! If you are really concerned, you could make your run shorter??? but I am sure if you spoke to your GP they would say it is fine.

Everything I've read and been told is that you can keep doing what your doing, just don't start anything new. I thought the heart rate was nothing over 140 though.

Keep exercising for as long as you feel comfortable! If you ever get dizzy, have bleeding etc then STOP!

You may, like me, not end up doing much exercise in the first 3 months anyway, because of tiredness and morning sickness. I put my gym membership on hold until I was 4 months then just did low impact classes like Body Vive, Body Balance and did a pregnancy yoga class up until 35weeks (when I got too uncomfortable) then started pregnancy swimming until the day I went into labour!

You should be fine to continue your exercise program in the early stages. Ask your doctor what your maximum heartrate should be (it varies depending on age etc). A heart rate monitor will ensure you stay within the safe zones and will make you feel comfortable about what you're doing.

Enjoy!
