I've been a bit slack TBH. We have all of our camping gear in a big bin in the shed. This includes batteries, med kit etc. And we live next to a HUGE river so I figured we'll always have access to water that we can boil.

I probably need to put together a kit with documents, spare clothes, medication etc. Oh and I think I might go get one of those wind up transistor radios too.

get a Dymo style torch if you can..they have radio, provide light and chargers for cellphones too and you crank the handle so no need for hundreds of batteries

2 room tent, sleeping bags, a blow up queen size bed, gas cooker, poncho, first aid kit, a 20 litre container for water and can't remember what else is in there.

I dont think anyone else has mentioned this- its good to have an old style phone that doesnt need power to work, cos portable phones wont work. We have one in our kit.

What is everyone packing for babies? The rate this one grows i'll have to change the clothes every week, but aside from clothes, bums (packed flat naps) and a few baby specific first aid things in the first aid kit i'm not sure what else he's going to require!

I keep saying that I'll put one together, but have been too slack to actually do it! There are some great ideas here, I'll have to write them all down and then get my A into G.
Bowie mentioned army ration packs - these are great! You can actually get them off Trademe, they have heaps of dry and vacuum-packed supplies that actually taste nice!

I use cloth nappys, but have disposables in emergency kit- u wont necessarily be able to wash cloth nappies, and they take up more room to store and with u if u had to evacuate in a hurry too.
