EC

I looked into it and if you have the time to put into it then the philosophy is definitely sound. I just didn't have the dedication TBH to be constantly watching bubs, but if you do then good on you! I can recommend the book "Natural Infant Hygiene" (I got it out from the library). I think it would work best if you're also co-sleeping, and you need to make sure Dad is on board too.

What's EC?

gosh Im glad someone asked , lol, I was racking my brains trying to think what EC would have stood for , I thought perhaps Early Childhood .

Each to their own I guess, Im more of a believer in the "wait til the child is actually old enough to know that it needs to go " rule myself, any baby will eventually "go " if they are sat anywhere without a nappy , I prefered to wait until Caitlyn was old enough to make the connection between the puddle on the floor and herself , and that it came from her .
Her stepmother tried that with her oldest , I remember watching him at 4 months barely sitting by himself being supported by his mum , until he "went" in the potty and they went on and on about it , course he went, as I said , wait a while and a baby will eventually process and go anywhere, doesnt mean they are toilet trained.
Plus as much as I love Caitlyn I didn't want to plan my day around her toileting , but if you feel you can give baby the attention that the method needs then ,best of luck .

lol yeah, that's i'm not going to do the whole sleeping and no nappies etc so you can feel the baby going on you but just take it slowly and if i works great if not, i' not going to stress

One of the girls in my coffee group does it and I can tell you it takes a LOT of commitment and hard work and you have to really believe in what you are doing.

She does it at night time as well and was co-sleeping for ages with her DD and getting up at midnight and 3:30am to toilet her every night.

I think long term it will pay off for her but after having a good period where she got great results between 3 - 7 months it did seem to go out the window when her girl started crawling and was too pre-occupied with that to identify that she needed to go. I think that was quite stressful for her. Especially having to make the choice when going to other people's houses of using nappies (which she didn't agree with) or risking puddles.

Personally it would be far too much added stress for me but as I say she really believes in the underlying principles of it and I think that makes all the difference. She has found it quite lonely at times though so I would recommend that you find other people doing it IRL or online so that you can share the experience as you would definitely be in a minority.

Good luck though - I think one of the real positives is it encourages great non-verbal communication with your child and that can only be a plus.
