My lounge has bay windows, the old fashioned sash type. And they are drafty AS! Not enough that the curtains are billowing but bloody close. Any idea how to keep draft out? I rent so i cant do anything extreme.
TIA!
You can get little foam stick on seal things that you can put inside the window frame...from Bunnings/Mitre10 type places. I'm not explaining it very well...will try and find a link. Not sure if it would work in a sash window though...perhaps along the bottom?
Cardboard or polystyrine that you can put up at night time. Are they the ones that go up and down? If so see if the air is coming through the top and if so then get them jacked up properly.
Have just been thinking - you could also stuff old stockings with foam and lay them along the top of the sash window if the air is coming through there?
Maybe??
We got much bigger curtains that completely cover the whole window area- right down past the seat and its definatly helped with the draft- we got them 50% off at Warehouse.
Maybe a combination of the above! I do the rolled up towel under the door trick, may as well apply to the windows as well...thanks for hte link Janue, will go see if i can find them in the local.
We just bought some of that stuff from the local $2 shop and have put it on our lounge windows (drafty wooden ones) the difference is amazing and it cost us $4!!
I was thinking of the old fashioned draft-snake/sausage thingies might do the trick, but probably the same as a rolled up towel... bonus to the snake that I found, can put them around lower edges of TV cabinets, bookshelves etc as 'bumpers' for rolling/crawling kidlets too
