Hi Dorothy,
Thanks for the informative talk on Monday in Christchurch. My question is on food. My nearly 11 month old will often only eat a small amount of her main meal, and as I feel she would still be hungry I offer her some fruit which she gobbles up. I would prefer that she eats a proper dinner rather than a nibble then a feed on fruit. Is there a way I can stop this? I have also had trouble tracking down the menus that you mentioned are on your forum as I would like to get away from so much bread for lunch. Is this something that we need to pay for to have access to? Thanks for your help.
Thank you for all your advice on Monday. There was a lot to take in but it was all very helpful.
The other questions above cover some of my issues but here is my most recent experience:
I tried the engulf/cup approach last night at bedtime with my 9 month old daughter and to my delight she calmed and fell asleep in my arms within about 5 mins. That is miraculous as usually she breastfeeds to sleep. I put her in her cot and she woke but I got her back to sleep without having to pick her up again. She woke 2 hours later and my husband resettled her using the same technique which was great. She has been waking 3-4 times in the night and I feed her back to sleep but last night she didn't wake until 2am. At that point I fed her but took her off and made sure I put her in her cot awake and she went to sleep herself and didn't wake until 6am. I fed her again and she went back to sleep until nearly 8 then I gave her solid breakfast and her milk feed straight afterwards. I was pleased with that routine but would rather not have the 2am wake up and I'm not sure if I should have fed her at 6, got her up for the day then or tried to resettle. Your feedback on this would be most appreciated.
