Ava is about to move into the next size of car seat. We are buying it next week and it has to be installed, but where would the best place be, behind the drivers seat or behind the passenger seat??
Also what age/weight do they stay in the rearward facing position?
I put mine behind the passenger seat because that way I can pretty much turn round and see him. He is still in a capsule so also I like the fact that I can push the passenger seat right forward for ease of getting it in and out and don't have to keep adjusting my own seat.
The recommend rear facing till at least one year, but really the longer the better.
they recommend you to put them behind passenger seat and yep its till a year old or so many kilos but your particular car seat will have that on the instruction manual
Like everyone else has said, passenger and a year - but it really is safest to keep them rear facing as long as possible. Kiddos who are forward facing are at much more risk of being hurt if they are in a car crash.
I have a nasty feeling that the childrestraints website is run by a lady named Trish that a lot of people have had strange dealings with. (Apologies if it is the wrong website/woman)
Bonnie is another lady who deals with kiddo carseats and I'd be inclined to trust her a whole lot more.
Well turning is done by weight - so we turned Lily tis weekend just gone as we went and bought a seat that turns at 9kg (when we were expecting a small bubba, not the giant one we got!) Not ideal, would have preferred to go as long as possible but the seat needed to be turned to work proeprly.
So make sure you buy one that goes up higher than 9kg rear facing!
