Topic: Can different types of inserts.. Posted: 08 April 2008 at 7:57am |
Make your pockets trimmer?
Iv had Kylah back in cloth since yesterday and the thing that has suprised me after using sposies fir 2 months is hoe 'fat' the nappies are and that it feels like she has a huge padded bum. I use 2 microfibre insets as i only have 1 hemp one??
Can anyone recommend trimmer combinations?

I use one microfibre and one hemp. I bought some hemp ones of TM and the were attached to a very thin microfibre one (super thin....i wouldnt trust it) witha snap. I find I can just snap them to my bum genius insert and use that. It lasts Tom 3 hours easily without leaking...he just feels wet so I tend to change him earlier.
I still think they are bulky. I am trying a d'lish soon and hope that that is trimmer.

I really only have microfibre as well, but I like the big nappy bum! I find it really weird when Greer is in a disposable, its like theres nothing to hold onto Sorry thats not very helpful!

Micro/hemp trifolds I find are the trimmest while still holding up for a decent length of time. 2 microfibre inserts does bulk out most naps

I have found bamboo to be the trimmest, but otherwise MF/Hemp combo is much better than just MF.

i've found the hemp boosters at baby harmony really good. instead of using a prefold and peapod trifold hemp overnight, we now use a prefold and hemp booster, which is thinner than a m/f insert
can you not get by with just 1 m/f insert during daytime? that's all i use in mine and it lasts 3hrs. they are baby harmony ones

I can get away wiht a Fuzzi insert with a mf booster on top (just 2 layers, slightly smaller than an insert) during the day, but for ease & reliability I love a mf/hemp trifold as it's all in one and still really slim.
BUT have to say I'm loving my Itti Bitti D'lish!! It's the trimmest cloth nappy I've ever seen - much trimmer than my others - yet we haven't had any problems with leaks. They fit so snug around Leo's bum and the bamboo inserts hold the liquid so well (they're wet but not squishy wet like mf). They take longer to dry but they're worth it imo! And the outer never seems to get wet so I could definitely get away with just changing the inserts if I had spares. SO, in saying all that I've just ordered another D'lish in lime (I have rockmelon already) plus an extra insert. I can't wait for it to arrive!!

Kandice, I also like the Baby Harmony hemp boosters and their naps in general are pretty trim because they are cut quite narrow in the leg...I bought four in their seconds sale as they were only $10 each - and nothing wrong with them except the snaps are slightly out!

the peapod bamboo inserts are quite trim and i used my one today for the first time in a swaddlebee and it worked great... not sure how much they cost tho. Or maybe look into getting some thicker microfibre so that you dont need 2... or the ecobubs hemp/microfibre inserts are great too.

i think the baby harmony m/f inserts are 4 layers instead of 3 so they last a little longer but aren't any thicker. i could be wrong though

I think Nurtured Family do a 4-layer mf insert that seperates in the middle for quicker drying? My sister uses them in her Mommy's Touch nappies as her boy is quite a heavy wetter.

I lkie the baby harmony m/f pockets with a hemp layer in them, really trim and last for ages. You stuff the hemp layer into the mf pocket and then stuff it all in the nappy - sorry can't seem to describe it very well today

I use the nutured families contoured inserts. One insert lasts 3 to 4 hours and IMO is the trimest option. We've been using them in fuzzi's exclusively for a year now and they are 100% reliable.
