Topic: Braxton Hicks contractions? Posted: 01 August 2008 at 11:14am |
When did these start (or start to be felt) for everyone?
I'm 21.5 weeks, and I'm sure I'm starting to get these already. My tummy goes tight and quite achey for about 20-30 seconds, and then goes away. I had a heap of them last night after going shopping, I'm guessing walking around all day did it?
I'm pretty sure I didn't get these until about 30+ weeks with my first, as I remember noticing that when I started getting them my tummy would kinda 'lift' up when it happened, if that makes sense? This time, my tummy still isn't big enough to really do that yet.
I asked my midwife, she said it's normal so I'm not worried...but how early did everyone else start getting them?

LittleBug, I'm glad someone else got them 'early' too. Everything I've read says that they start around 28 weeks, though the my midwife did say that it's different for some.
Missy77, Oh good luck! Hopefully baby doesn't keep you waiting too long. I remember that last 5 weeks...I was nervous and yet so very impatient lol.

Had them after 30 weeks with no1, this time iv'e been having them since about 18 weeks and now its just a continuous rock hard belly that even the midwife calls the brick . Smallest amount of walking seems to make it worse as well.

I had them from about 24 weeks, but turned out I was actually about to start going into labour after a couple of weeks (obviously the labour managed to stop in hospital though!) then kept getting them from about 27 weeks again.

Braxton hicks can start in the 1st trimester however they are not always felt by all. Everyone is different & Id say its quite normal.... I've been having mine now for a couple of weeks, mostly in the mornings when I wake up.
