Can anyone help me with this?

My little boy is 9 months old and is about to be introduced to a bottle and formula for the first time!!! I have some Avent bottles that were given to me when he was a newborn with newborn teats. I am guessing these wouldn't be great for him now. Can anyone recommend a teat to use?

Thanks in advance for your help

The Avent newborn teats are for ages 0+ and are recommended for BF babies of all ages using bottles for the first time, so maybe try the newborn teat at first until he gets used to it as the milk comes out straight away (unlike BFing when they have to work for the letdown - using a faster teat first off might give him bit of a shock!) Then once he's used to it try the next size 1m+. I still use the 1m+ for Ems and she's been on combined BF and bottle-feeds for the last month now. I might give her another month before going up to the 3m+ (which is a much faster flow) when I drop another BF and replace with another bottle- feed.

Oh, and just a warning, he may not take to the bottle straight away. Ems flat out refused at first and would scream blue murder when the bottle came near her mouth. So expect to have to try all the tricks in the book and there may be lots of wasted formula (don't do what I did and tried with expressed breast milk which ended up being tipped out ). It could be bit of a battle, but then some BF babies will take to it no prob so you might be one of the lucky ones . Good luck

I am anticipating a bit of a battle but it is something we are very motivated to try. I am trying to break a comfort sucking at night habit that he has formed. I have everything crossed
