I got sent this email, and to be honest, it wouldn't suprise me one bit with the wierdos around...

Please pass this message on 2 your ChCh friends a friend of mine in ChCh got petrol last night and when she went to pay, the attendant told her to look round the shop like she was going to buy other stuff because he had just seen a man get into the back of her car and lie down, he said he had called the police.

When they arrived and caught him he told them he had to kid nap someone and put there body at the waimak for a gang initiation.

Please lock yours cars when you get petrol."

this happened at the bishopdale petrol station!!!

Lock your cars at all times anyway when getting petrol, someone could steal your car or belongings... and who would have thought your life!

Haven't seen it in the media, but possibly they're keeping it quiet as it could be some lead in the missing case for the Campbell girl.

I have heard of similar stories that have been emailed around (including one that a police officer forwarded turned out to be an american hoax type email) but you never know...

I don't know about someone getting into your car - but I do know of someone who got their car stolen from the service station forecourt while they went in and paid - I always take my keys with me when I pay.

I got told this story at work apparently it was a friend of a friend of a girl I work with (and the girl was from Dunedin). It sounds similar to the hoax going around.

It is a hoax I think. As my MIL told us the other day as she heard it at work but it happened in Tauranga.

Sounds like it's one of the hoax's but I always take my keys in and lock my car. I also check the back seat before getting in, although there is no way you'd be able to lay down in our back seat with the carseat in there unless you were 5!

I've received that email in different versions about 8 times over the last 5 years. The location always changes though.
