we have DD in the room that we are in. If we are in the lounge during the day...she's in the lounge, if we are in the bedroom...she's in the bedroom. I can't handle being away from her. It's ar too scary for me at the moment...hopefully it's a habit that I may break after time.

Rory is still in his bassinet in my room. He is a quiet sleeper and doesnt wake unless i make a loudish noise and there is nobody else to worry about being woken.

Soon Rory will be out of his bassinet and i still havent made my mind up if im putting him in his own room. I feel more comfortable knowing he is near me.

I also get interference on my monitor so that would probably be a lot more noisier then him. During the day he sleeps in the living room.

I agree with the other ladies, maybe have bubs in your room for the first week to see how it goes. If it works, great and if not he can just be moved later into his own room.

That habit still hasnt broken for me. I HATE leaving Rory alone. All sorts of things go running through my head when i cant easily check on him.

I haven't read all the responses, but Tyler is in our room ,hes still waking frequently at night and buggered if Im gonna hop out of my nice warm bed, to go into another room .

When he has his day time naps however, he is in his bassinette, I just have the baby monitor with me , and check on him every so often .

I plan to have Boysie sleeping in my room with me to start off with and I'll see how I go. I might make too much noise or he might make too much noise and we keep each other awake.

Callum was in with us for the first 8 weeks or so. DH stuck it out for the first couple of weeks we had him home but he is such a light sleeper and never learned to sleep through so he would help with feeds until about 2am and then he would go sleep in the spare room. We had to moved C into his own room around 8 weeks when my Mum came to stay because we needed the spare room for her and DH said he would sleep on the couch if I still wanted C in the bedroom next to me I have to say both C and I slept better once we were right next to each other.. but I am glad he was in with me at the beginning he was so teeny and I was always reaching out to put a hand on his chest to make sure it was going up and down

The plan is to have baby in their own room from day 1. Feedback from friends and family is they got a way better sleep that way.

I was planning on doing that too ,but I think it depends on many factors, how cold it is at night etc, how far away the bedroom is.
Plus , when its your first, you don't realise how protective you feel of them when they are here .
You don't necessarily get a good nights sleep when they are in their own room (my daughter was in her own room early on ) and I got less sleep because I was more worried about her .

Hollie was in with us for the first 7 months, because I am a naturally anxious person, and the only way I could rest soundly was to have her close.

PS we also planned to have C in his own room from the beginning - and straight into the cot too - but we didn't have a cot when he was born and once we got him home there was no way I was letting him out of my sight for the first wee while!

I'm a lazy person so had both of mine in a bassinet right next to my bed. My feet didn't even touch the floor during night feeds it was great.

Jack must of moved out about 4 months, I'm guessing to go into his cot but i can't really remember

Caprece moved into her room at 6 months because she was such a terrible sleeper and I needed to try something different lol

I loved my girls sleeping next to me supposedly in their basinette and then their cot, but usually in our bed... My oldest ended up staying in my room until 2-3ish - years that is lol (she had her own room then but usually slept in my bed) ... my youngest finally moved out about 14-15 months.... I love being able to hear them sleeping and know they're okay... plus I think cuddling up together is great for bonding... and like rachandjack said I was just too lazy to wanna get out of bed in the night.
mum to 3 lovely girls :D

Bailey slept in his own room from the get go, but had really bad reflux and after spending a few times in hospital spent most of the time attached to me lol

Aidan was a different story, with him being so prem he was in our room and in a bassinet for just over a year! he only actually went to his own room last year when we moved!

We will be having baby sleep in our room, got the cot set up next to my side of the be and have put a carrycot in the cot for the first couple of months, then will put baby straight into big cot. when carrycot gets to snug.

Just think it will make it easier with the feeding and changing of nappies in the middle of the night...
Plus the WHO suggest it as it supposedly helps prevent cot-death.
Due 11 Aug with first baby

We will have the baby in our room at least for the first 6months or so. I live in Dunedin so its too cold to go traipsing the hallway in the middle of the night, although I seem to be doing that anyway with my midnight toilet stops! And if I can sleep through the boys snoring, I should hopefully be able to sleep through all the little noises lol!

Jack was in our room at night until 5mths when he got too big for the bassinette, he slept in the lounge during the day.
Ben is in our room and will be until he gets too big for the bassinette (5mrhs maybe?), he slepts in the lounge during the day.

With it being winter I have less rooms to heat and I can hear him (or keep an eye on him during the day) which makes me feel more reassured that he is OK.
BF in bed at night is good as it is comfy, can lie down if I want and I think I wake up less than if I have to go into another room (did for a while with Jack). DH sleeps through night feeds or wakes briefly and goes back to sleep; even though he is asleep it isn't as lonely with him there
