Topic: Baby movements.... should I be worried? Posted: 05 January 2009 at 11:53am |
So after 2 weeks of regular, frequent, hard (enough to see my belly jump with the force) movements we seem to be MIA.
Yesterday I had a few, soft movements and today I have had about 5 kicks, very soft...
Could bubs have moved into a funny position or should I call the midwife? (lol, I just got another soft kick then so make that 6)
I did spend a lot of time on my hands and knees yesterday... dont know if that could have helped bubs move into a funny position.

Yeah baby might have turned around and the kicks be in the back where they don't feel as hard. They like you to have at least 10 movements a day so if that is happening then all is probably ok. Having said that though it never hurts to ring your midwife if your concerned as that is what they are there for.

you are after 10 kicks in 12 hours so you still have time. It could be that bubs has moved or that your uterus has grown and bubs has a ltitle more room. It also could be that you have jsut been busier and not noticed them. Drink a long cold glass of water...that often "kick" starts them (excuse the bery bad pun)

I wouldnt worry hun, you are only 25 weeks, some people can barely feel bubs at 25 weeks.
As long as you are feeling 10 movements in a day they say that you are fine, its when you are feeling nothing all day or for quite a while that you need to worry or ring your MW.
Bubs could have just been ahving a good wiggle round the other day and moved into a different spot, and now its happy where it is and is just giving you soft kicks as it wiggles a bit.

Plus, don't forget that growing babies get tired too! MIne goes in cycles, even now, where he'll beat me black and blue for a day or two and then he'll have a day where he just snoozes. Sit down quietly and just put your hands on your tum for a while and see what you feel - baby is probably moving, but moving when you're moving too so you're not feeling it as such. The glass of cold water really works too - my boy used to hate it! and I'd usually get an almightly wollop about 20 minutes after drinking it

I got really concerned when I was about 28 weeks with the same thing. She was just playing hard to get and now I wish she would quieten down for an hour at least so I can get some sleep.
Ring your MW if it would make you feel better but quiet days are not uncommon.
The water didn't work for me. But holding the glass against my tum often woke her up with a start lol.

The water didnt work so much as the bursting bladder, lol.
Had another little cluster of movements now, so I am much more relaxed, will enjoy it while it lasts.

I noticed some tickers were out. Very weird.
Tarn, sleeping is very uncomfortable but I just got used to it. I've dropped to one extra pillow now. I use it to slightly wedge under my belly while i'm lying on my side so the weight of my belly doesn't pull me over as it twists my back. I put it longways against my body and wrap my arms around it as it keeps my hands from getting squished and going to sleep which hurts like hell.
I'm afraid being uncomfortable just seems to be part of :) Blimey, 27 weeks, I didn't realise you were so far along. Did you find out the sex? Tammy did tell me but I'm lucky if I can remember my own name at the moment.

I think a few of us went though a quiet period around the 25 to 28 week mark? Kinda wish that was back after the extreme roundhouse kick I got yesterday

I had a quiet patch at about that time and got paranoid - ended up going into hospital at 10pm for CTG monitoring. It was worth it for my peace of mind!

Well I am very relaxed as bubs decided that the time to let me know he/she was ok was during dinner.
With every mouthful the little monkey gave so good hard kicks, I swear I got punched in the bottom too
I am under the impression now that we are about to do some growing!

I'd say it's just a different position. The 10+ a day thing really kicks in after 30 weeks and it sounds like you have nothing to worry about.
