Topic: Anti-D antibodies and pregnancy. Posted: 09 November 2009 at 7:26pm |
We are planning to TTC #4 shortly, however I developed anti-D antibodies during my last pregnancy. (I'm Rh - & #3 is Rh+)
I have done some reading on pregnancies with this issue, so know the basics, but would like to hear any first hand accounts from women who have been in this situation (ie were you monitored differently, experience any problems related directly to having the anti-bodies)
Thanks

Wow I read your post NikkiB, how scary! Im also rhesus negative, I mc at 11weeks and had the Anti D. We are TTC #1 but looking ahead depending one how the first pg gones we could possibly have problems at some stage? OMG I hadn't really thought about that and I really want to have a few kids... I guess I'll just need to take them one at a time
I hope you don't mind me asking mumoftwins have you not had any problems with your past pg, have you had the Anti D everytime?

Hi wantabub,
I had an anti-D jab during my first pregnancy. I had a bleed at 13 wks with my twins so had the jab then, but as both boys were Rh- I didn't need one after they were born.
With #3 I had a silent bleed between 28 & 36 wks and developed the anti-D anti-bodies, so having the jab wouldn't have achieved anything.
Because you had an anti-D injection after your m/c you should be fine. Just make sure you let your midwife know if you have any bleeding (no matter how small!!) in your next pregnancy and request the injection!!
Best of luck TTC!!!!

Thanks so much mumoftwins... man there is so much to learn. Good luck with TTC #4... I'd love to have a big family, DH knows that and he said we'll see how 3 go first... just need to get pg with the first now...lol! I'm the eldest of 5 kids so I can't imagine only having one child. I guess tho we'll just take each pregnancy as it comes and see what happens. You've got to have dreams tho right?
