Topic: Another Scan... Posted: 10 October 2007 at 6:13pm |
I had my midwife appointment today and she seems to think that I need another scan @ 33 weeks... as there might be alot of extra fluid in my womb, and to make sure things are ok. A good thing about this is we will get to find out the sex of the baby as we couldn't @ 20 weeks... !!! And there is no way that I will be able to keep it a secret!

I had a scan at 34 weeks and thought about finding out too, but there was no way the sonographer could tell as baby was so squished the legs covered up every possible chance of seeing the flavour!
I am actually glad now that we didn't find out at this late stage as I am bursting to find out and the suspense is killing me!!

I had regular scans from 36 weeks with Andrew and didn't find out what he was.

We could have found out with Briona at 35 weeks (growth scan) but chose not to... we had waited that long, so could easily wait another 5 weeks - right? hehe. Still, if you can and you're as impatient as me, you'll probably go for it anyway! And at least you'll be "with it" (compared to having just pushed the baby out)

We had a scan at 38 weeks and we were looking at this big lump and asked if it was a kidney or something. The sonagrapher looked a bit embarrassed and said it was the testes.

We had a growth/position scan for Xavier at 32 weeks, and were able to confirm his gender (had already found out at the 20 week scan) and he was estimated at the time to be about 3.5kg so not exactly small... I would say there is a good chance you will be able to find out if you want to.

Yikes! Ella was 2.89kg. How big was Kiya, Becca?
I found out at 20 weeks that Ella was a girl, but they said 80% chance.. lol
So at 30 weeks I had another scan (to make sure) and they found that the placenta was calcified, so I had to have more scans after that. I think I had 5 in total, as Ella was born at 39 weeks.

My mums climbed in size like that and then her 4th was the smallest!!!
Good luck with the scan, I wouldn't be able to wait if I could find out.
We found out at 20 week scan but then had it confirmed as we needed extra scans at 35 weeks.

We found out the sex at 20 weeks, but had a scan on Monday at 27.5 weeks and there was no way he was uncrossing his legs to confirm! The sonographer said it is a lot harder from about 25 weeks on as they are just too big to get the 'wide angle' shots, but not impossible. If you're dying to find out, I say go for it. But then again, you only have a few weeks left... can you hold out?!

If we can't see I suppose it's not the end of the world! But now there is this chance...! I was just reading my notes and it said that my uterus is large for the dates that I have... so what does that mean? Never had this with lucy

Both my uterus and baby growth measurements have been large for my dates since 20 weeks so your not alone! For me its an indication of a larger than average baby apparently or my dates are wrong (which could definately be the case). At 34 weeks the estimate weight of baby was 3kg.

Wow peachy... I am thinking a big baby, as Lucy was 8lb 5oz and I pushed her out with no pain relief and within 20 mins of arriving to the hospital... Looking forward to the scan to see what is happening in there.
Have you finished work yet peachy? I had lucy @ 37 weeks! Where you are now!

Lisha if you midwife is worried there might be extra fluid that would explain why your uterus is large for dates as you would be generally larger than normal to account for all the extra fluid in there. Does not necissarily mean baby will be big, it could be lots of fluid, which i guess is what the midwife is wanting to find out by sending you for the scan - to see how much fluid is in there and how big the baby is in comparrison.
We found out Ayja was a girl at the 20wk scan then had another scan at 33 weeks as my fundal height was going backwards!! so we got to reconfirm then that all the pink we already had was going to be put to good use.
